Chapter 245: Final Exam
Chapter 245: Final Exam
Before the end of her first semester, Yuan Xiu organized two social events with students from other grades, which were very rewarding overall.
Thanks to the promotion by the senior students from Class 1 of the second year, Yuan Xiu did not encounter the previous problems when she contacted them for the next two events.
Of course, Ding Xuewen never mentioned participating in any of the events.
During the final social gathering, the senior students specifically mentioned Ding Xuewen, wanting to "exchange ideas" with him on "literature," but unfortunately, Ding Xuewen didn't come.
The senior student was somewhat disappointed.
Turning around, a classmate told Ding Xuewen about it, and someone suggested, "Why don't you participate in the next one too? Bring honor to our class and let the seniors see your literary talent!"
Ding Xuewen was genuinely tempted.
However, he heard that the senior who made this remark consistently ranked among the top three in his grade in exams every year…
"Exams are coming up soon, so there probably won't be any more social events this term. Maybe next time, maybe next time."
In addition to professional knowledge, the final exams in the first semester of freshman year also include cultural courses such as politics and foreign languages.
When we enrolled, no one knew what our college entrance exam scores were. After enrollment, the school did not organize any exams. We could only find out how well the students were doing through their classroom performance.
Ding Xuewen was full of confidence for his first exam after enrolling!
While he might not be as knowledgeable in his major courses as someone from a medical family like Xia Yang, Ding Xuewen's academic performance in general subjects was among the best in his class, and indeed, in his grade!
This is not him boasting. In the class, there are very few people like him who graduated from high school, went to work in a pharmaceutical factory, and then dealt with words in an office.
His poems were well-received by most of the new students.
That's his strength.
In the class, the only person he could consider a rival was Xia Yang.
That's because he was young and lucky, and he didn't have to wait long before taking the college entrance exam.
"Oh my god, the exam is coming up soon! Yuan Xiu, what if I fail my foreign language exam? I don't want to fail! I don't want to have to retake it!"
Upon hearing the sound, Ding Xuewen turned his head and glanced at it.
The students in my class look like they've lost their parents whenever foreign languages are mentioned, which shows how badly they've studied them.
Yuan Xiu patted Liu Yazhi's hand, "We don't have time this semester, but next semester we'll set up an English corner in our class so we can learn from each other and definitely improve our English grades."
"Hearing you say that makes me wish the next semester would start soon."
The next semester can't be brought forward, but the final exams have arrived early.
Class monitor Wang Jianjun copied the exam times for each subject onto the blackboard. There were eight subjects in total, and the exams would be held over four consecutive days.
The physical education exam was on the last afternoon, and the exam ended there.
If you want to do well on the first day's exams for "Basic Theories of Traditional Chinese Medicine" and "Classical Chinese Medicine," there's only one way: rote memorization!
So on the first day of the exam, Yuan Xiu noticed many dark circles under her eyes.
The area in front of the teaching building was packed with people, all waiting for the exam room to open.
There was hardly anyone chatting; the only sounds were the rustling of pages turning and the soft murmur of reciting texts.
Yuan Xiu and Zheng Yuemei were in the same exam room. As soon as they met, Zheng Yuemei yawned: "Last night, the whole dormitory stayed up until 3 a.m. before we went to sleep."
I got up at 6:30 in the morning and didn't get more than four hours of sleep.
"Why are you staying up so late? Not sleeping well at night means you won't have the energy for the exam, which will affect your performance."
Zheng Yuemei waved her hand: "I can't sleep at all, so I might as well get up and read a book."
Everyone took the first exam after enrollment very seriously, fearing that they would fail and be too embarrassed!
After exchanging a few words, Zheng Yuemei lowered her head and continued studying until the exam bell rang. Only then did she put away her books and line up with everyone else to enter the exam room.
Four days passed in a flash, and everyone breathed a sigh of relief after finishing the theory test on the morning of the fourth day.
Outside the classroom, the sunlight was so bright it was hard to open one's eyes. Yuan Xiu and Zheng Yuemei smiled as they left the examination room.
"It's finally over. If I had continued, I would have died." Zheng Yuemei rubbed her aching back. "Right now, all I want to do is go back to my dorm and get a good night's sleep."
I still need to go to the cafeteria to eat lunch before going to bed, as I have one last physical education exam in the afternoon.
In the cafeteria, everyone was talking about the exam, checking their answers one by one. Some were overjoyed, while others were wailing in despair.
Ding Xuewen was surrounded by members of the poetry club, eating and chatting around a table. Loud laughter occasionally broke the silence, attracting the attention of other diners in the cafeteria.
"Looks like she did very well on the exam!" Zheng Yuemei glanced at it and then looked away, starting to worry about her own exam results.
Liu Fang sat down opposite Yuan Xiu, carrying her lunchbox: "How did the exam go?"
Yuan Xiu swallowed the stir-fried cabbage in her mouth. "It's alright, anyway, I've done all the questions."
Zheng Yuemei sighed, "I've done it all, but I don't know if it's the right thing to do!"
As a class committee member, I feel much more pressure than other students. When the class committee members were selected, they didn't look at the students' grades. This time, I don't expect to be in the top ten, but at least I can't be ranked at the bottom.
Yuan Xiu also felt pressure. She appeared calm on the surface, but she was actually praying silently in her heart that she could get good grades.
After finishing her meal, Yuan Xiu rested for a while in the classroom. The afternoon's physical education exam was much simpler: running, long jump, sit-ups, and then some marching drills. That was it.
Unlike other exams where you have to wait for results, physical education exams don't require you to wait for them. You can take the physical fitness test on the spot and get a score right away, telling you whether you passed, were good, or excellent.
Yuan Xiu received the rank of "Good".
Everyone passed the entire exam. Even those with poor physical fitness received a passing grade from the teacher as long as they finished the run and completed the exercises.
"In the second year of university, the physical education exam will include 'Baduanjin' and 'Tai Chi'."
Some students finished their exams early and went to visit the older students taking their exams. When they came back, they told everyone about the additional content that had been added to the older students' physical education exams.
"What about the third year? What are the exams for the third year?"
"I don't know, I didn't go look."
"What's so interesting about this? Just ask a third-year student..."
