Chapter 212 Holy Light Legion
Chapter 212 Holy Light Legion
"Marcus, do not despair. The Holy Light will guide you to true redemption... We Draenei are with you! The prophet said you would become the most compassionate paladin in Azeroth..."
The tall and imposing Draenei garrison commander Andre patted Marcus on the shoulder, while Draenei paladins surrounded Marcus and him, subtly protecting General Marcus.
The Draenei are a branch of the Eredar. They are exiles and the main force of the Legion of the Light. Prophet Velen is their leader and guiding light.
Once upon a time, the Eredar were an interstellar race that was close to a god-like civilization.
Prophet Velen, Archimonde, and Kil'jaeden were the three highest leaders of the Eredar. Archimonde and Kil'jaeden followed the Dark Titans, each choosing to become a god and command the demonic legions.
Archimonde the Defiler is responsible for thoroughly cleansing every inhabited planet. He is accompanied by Eredar officers and dreadlords (Nazrezim), who are generally high-ranking officers of the Burning Legion.
Kil'jaeden the Deceiver is responsible for turning and subverting certain tough nuts to crack; he is particularly adept at manipulating people's hearts... even the Dreadlords can't match him in this regard.
Originally, the prophet Velen, the Archbishop of Light of the Eredar, was a better leader of the demonic army... but the visions of the future revealed by the Naaru show that it was all a conspiracy of the Void to devour the light.
Prophet Velen refused the offer of amnesty from the Dark Titan Sargeras and led a portion of the Eredar away from their original planet, Argus. Velen accepted the aid of the Naaru of Light and descended upon the original Outland world aboard their void strait ships...
The demonic army arrived soon after, and those who fled the planet Eredar called themselves the Draenei, meaning exiles. The Draenei arrived in Outland... the homeland of the original orcs. They quickly clashed with the local orcs, and the conflict between the two rapidly escalated.
It was at this time that Ner'zhul, the first Lich King, who was then the supreme leader and shaman of the Silvermoon Clan of orcs, was easily bewitched by Kil'jaeden. He pretended to be the soul of his wife and incited the orcs to attack the Draenei holy city of Shattrath and the followers of the Naaru.
The orcs and draenei suffered countless casualties, forging a deep-seated blood feud between them.
The land is ravaged, the earth is enraged, and the earth elemental spirits and ancestral souls of the Mag'har tribe no longer heed the prayers of the orcs... The elemental spirits of Nagrand are filled with fury, livestock are running rampant, and crops are failing.
In their confusion, the orcs were gradually lured into becoming pawns in the war.
Ultimately, the Draenei were trapped in Shattrath, vowing to defend their last territory to the death... Ner'zhul made one mistake after another, attempting to use the Scepter of Sargeras, the Eye of Dalaran, and the Index of Medivh to open the portal to all worlds and seek more living space, only to cause the outer planet to shatter...
In Outland, the orcs were completely lured into drinking demon blood by the rebellious warlock Gul'dan and becoming servants of the Burning Legion, leading to the complete collapse of Outland.
They burst through the Dark Portal and invaded the planet Azeroth.
Some Draenei hastily departed Outland in spaceships... Guided by the Naaru, they searched for warriors of the Light's Legion. Their target was the paladins on the planets of Azeroth...
A Draenei spaceship was shot down and crashed on an uninhabited island in Azeroth... The recently announced new members of the Exodar Draenei troop come from there. These Draenei possess a more direct and purer faith in the Holy Light than the humans of Azeroth.
They understood that the Holy Light emanated from the Naaru, who were just, holy, and selfless... They had to uphold their faith in order to share in the power of the Holy Light from the Naaru.
The Draenei may look like demons, but they are actually warriors of the Legion of Light.
The members of the demon army and the Holy Light Legion are all ancient Eredar... Heaven
They look the same as demons, but their behaviors and beliefs are worlds apart.
One sought destruction, the other salvation.
The Exodar and the Aldor who remained in Shattrath City in Outland were originally one, fighting against the Void forces and the demon army under the leadership of the prophet Velen.
They were all Draenei...
They simply revolved around different Naru.
The Naaru of Exodar are named Volos, and he guides the prophet Velen.
A'dal of Shattrath City is the known leader of the Naaru race, and many Naaru follow his orders... because his energy is great enough to traverse the universe... allowing the portals to surrounding planets to open, and the Outland portal connecting to Dalaran is also due to A'dal's energy.
The Draenei fight for the Naaru, who provide them with energy.
Including the power source of their spaceships and the holy light magic they use... the Draenei Guardians bring light and order to the world.
Spreading love and justice... at least on the surface...
Their kin, the Burning Legion's demon commanders, are dedicated to plundering and destroying the world, leaving only pain and wailing, destruction and chaos in their wake.
The difference between the two is obvious.
The beings of Azeroth are drawn to the Holy Light, and they should theoretically find it easy to stand together... This is what Prophet Velen thought, as did Khadgar, and Turalyon, who had already joined the Legion of the Light in Outland and become the new human Archbishop of the Light, shared the same view...
During their encounter with the demon hunter Illidan, they discovered that Illidan seemed to be using a roundabout approach to achieve his goal.
Perhaps he was playing with fire and getting burned. This genius night elf mage was shunned because the night elves rejected magic. He was not as respected as his brother, the archdruid Malfurion Stormrage, and his sister-in-law Tyrande was indifferent to him.
Having gained demonic power, Illidan endured the blinding effects of fel energy to master fel magic, determined to use his demonic power to prove himself the best, the strongest, and the future of his race...
Illidan occupied the Black Temple and relentlessly trained new demon hunters, all for revenge and to carve out his own territory.
He was imprisoned for ten thousand years, determined to prove everyone wrong...
Kael'thas and Lady Vashj became his underlings; the former was a blood elf prince burdened with a deep-seated grudge, while the latter was a persuader sent by someone with ulterior motives. The Naga, in ancient times, were high elves cursed and sunk to the bottom of the sea...
They were all loyal servants of Queen Azshara...
Illidan believed he had mastered some kind of power and summoned the Naga to become his allies, but in reality, it's still uncertain who is merely a tool...
The chaos in the outer realms is imminent...
Azeroth is chaotic enough...
Khadgar and some idealists have only now realized that war is the most direct and ultimately effective means of subjugation. Unless you subdue these petty and foolish people, they won't listen to any of your reasoning.
Marcus seems to feel this deeply as well.
Even a powerful new generation of lightbringer like him sometimes feels deeply powerless...
The Draenei were over 2.5 meters tall, and the strength from their massive arms reassured Marcus that he was not alone.
Khadgar was also a good friend of his, and he felt that this might embarrass Khadgar... Khadgar was about the same age as him, and they had the good fortune to meet when Khadgar was still an apprentice, during the battle to fight back against the orc invasion and storm Karazhan to close the Dark Portal.
The connection between the Silver Hand and the Kirin Tor has always existed...
On the contrary, Medivh, the so-called guardian of humanity, seems to have betrayed the human race he dedicated his life to protecting...
Although the Alliance sent a new representative, Marcus knew that as long as he didn't leave Dalaran, Khadgar and the Draenei from Exodar and the Aldor organization in Shattrath City in Outland would stand behind him.
Looking sideways...
Tyran, the young Scarlet Crusade lord who should have stood with him, now stared at the other factions around him like a wary beast, as if they were his enemies.
The remaining bishops of the Church of the Holy Light in Stormwind were also confused and didn't know who to follow... because their leader had become an assassin from the Church of Twilight, and they were now being closely watched by the Violet Eye and were essentially under house arrest.
The agents of MI7 disappeared automatically; they might blend into the crowd or silently protect him from the sidelines.
The Syndicate, Defias, and even Ravenholdt's group were all hiding their faces and keeping their distance from the Alliance and Horde ambassadors. They figured they wouldn't be helping them anymore.
After all, the Syndicate were remnants of the Kingdom of Alterac, and the Defias brothers had already been branded traitors by Stormwind... They were originally a group of honest human artisans... Ravenholdt was once a well-known underground organization near Lordaeron...
Now Marcus finds himself almost like these marginalized figures...ignored by all sides... Looking back, Marcus is filled with hope that someone will emerge from the towering mage tower of Dalaran to save the situation...
