I have one more World of Warcraft Necromancer than you

Chapter 352 Pursuit

Chapter 352 Pursuit

Whether it was a hallucination caused by severe injury or not, the further Lorraine walked, the more faintly she heard different sounds around her.

First, his long-lost teacher screamed in his mind: "Stop! Don't get any closer! Danger... Get out of here."

Lorraine tried to continue questioning her teacher, but the teacher's image vanished instantly, followed by a sharp pain... Did it really stop? Just as she stopped, she heard the sound of a colossal object scraping against the cave wall and breaking a stalagmite behind her.

Lorraine could only grit her teeth and continue running at full speed, avoiding straight paths and deliberately choosing to weave through rugged intersections...

Logically speaking, the fissures in the underground world are interconnected, with varying sizes of openings. Some are dead ends, while others are ever-changing, suddenly opening up into continuous underground tunnels.

Whether it was man-made or eroded by underground river water, Lorraine had a vague feeling that this was a tunnel frequently traversed by some kind of creature...

He weaved and twisted his way through the enemy lines, trying his best to shake off his pursuers.

Wandering through some huge passageways that were clearly man-made or constructed... ancient carved patterns, strange symbols, huge stone pillars and platforms... Lorraine had no interest in appreciating them; it only wanted to escape its pursuers.

However, the Faceless One seemed to have a navigation and positioning system... No matter how Lorraine tried to get around it, it would just pass through walls and make its way in. The Faceless One emitted a purplish-black shield that dissolved and blocked everything in front of it, even some unknown building blocks that were truly indestructible.

The Faceless One can even teleport short distances.

Lorraine, hiding behind the rocks, witnessed firsthand how the creature with a face full of tentacles, a fat head and large ears, yet moved with incredible speed, was able to transform itself into a mass of black matter and then appear behind the stone wall...

The other party has locked onto him; no matter what he's hiding behind, they have a clear target.

Puzzled, he could only continue his hasty escape.

He hadn't walked far when the image of the hellish imp he'd encountered the previous morning flashed before his eyes. Its phantom appeared before Lorraine, grinning evilly: "The seed of plague, once planted, will bloom into a flower of hell, devouring its host... Lord Barbaras will come to reap its harvest... You cannot escape... Prepare to face the torments of hellish soul-refining..."

Lorraine hated the brat. He endured the pain and lunged at the illusory figure before him, only to easily pass through the illusion...

The imp didn't exist, but its words lingered in Lorraine's ears, making her restless and uneasy.

"Give it back to me, offer up your flesh and blood... and my lord will grant you immortality!"

The final sound came from behind. Lorraine was certain that the Faceless One's head, hands, and even the upper part of its body were tentacles, without mouthparts or eyes... Logically, it shouldn't have been able to make a sound, but Lorraine clearly heard an echo.

"What do you mean, 'give it back to you'?"

"The blood of our Lord is not something mortals are fortunate enough to enjoy..."

Lorraine instinctively checked his injuries, only to discover that his right hand and right arm, though broken, were still tightly clutching the Bloodstone Egg. The crimson light flickered incessantly, and the closer the Faceless One approached, the more frequently the red light flashed.

Emotions are like this—a locator!

Lorraine wanted to throw it away, but he was unwilling to...

Everything proceeded perfectly according to plan. The minor incidents and disturbances were insignificant. The last traitor was already in his hands. All he needed to do was seize the small Bloodstone Egg, and the mission would be complete!

However, variables are ever-present... The trap you dug for yourself is like a grave you prepared for yourself.

Dropping two small bombs caused a cataclysmic event, and now we've inexplicably entered an ancient underground ruin. Looking at these structures, they're clearly not built by ordinary people; their vast spaces and designs seem like palaces and cities built for giants...

The entire space extends downwards, and the deeper one goes underground, the larger the space becomes, and the more obvious the traces of human creation become.

Lorraine saw the glowing mushrooms, their vibrant colors like stars adorning the sky, illuminating everything around them...

The mushrooms trembled, releasing various fluorescent powders...scattering them across the stone walls. Giant insects collected the stamens from the mushrooms...hanging them along spiderweb-like, crystalline giant threads...

Water seems to flow among the moss...

Upon closer inspection, it turned out to be another unknown liquid flowing... emitting a pale white light, its texture turbid yet able to solidify and become translucent.

If—and I mean if—Lorraine were a botanist or an explorer, he would surely be amazed by the bizarre and breathtaking beauty of the underground kingdom. Unfortunately, he is now just a pitiful, severely wounded wretch.

A desperate fugitive who carries a great treasure and refuses to give it up.

"This thing is really hot to the touch!"

He seized the Bloodstone Egg, but it drained his right hand. His entire arm withered away, but thankfully his lower body remained unaffected. Lorraine's spellcasting didn't require traditional hand seals; he relied mostly on incantations and the magical runes he constructed in his mind, gathering elements of various magical types...

With the blessing of the Mirror of Truth, Lorraine even felt that his casting speed had increased significantly.

A divine artifact is indeed a divine artifact; all the efforts of the master and disciple were worthwhile.

Time ticked by, and Lorraine couldn't possibly hand over the Bloodstone Egg. He was unwilling, and he didn't trust that the other party would let him go after obtaining the Bloodstone Egg. That unknown creature was definitely not human...

Lorraine felt like she'd seen it somewhere before, but couldn't quite place it—the Faceless One statue she'd seen in the Spider Cave more than ten days ago...

For now, not handing over the Bloodstone Egg isn't a big problem; Lorraine can use Blink and speed potions... and sprint like crazy to create some distance. The problem is, escaping like this isn't a long-term solution.

I tried confronting the Faceless One head-on in the trap above; it devours everything and corrodes all things.

The hundreds of Faceless Ones that Lorraine had awakened from the lakeside, along with the newer species she had been reluctant to part with, such as the Skeleton Mage and Archers—all of their attacks seemed unable to harm the Faceless Ones.

As soon as the opponent gets close to Lorraine's summoned creature, he swallows it whole, instantly restoring his health to full, and continues to snowball, unstoppable and invincible.

Completely unsolvable. Lorraine unleashed a torrent of ice magic arrows, seemingly without restraint, unsure if it was due to her low magical power or insufficient magical energy. The Faceless One was virtually unaffected; it wasn't even slowed down by the ice magic arrows...

The invincible Frost Nova simply cannot freeze its opponent.

Immune to slowing effects, immune to crowd control, and resistant to magic... this is simply a nightmare enemy for mages.

It devours flesh and blood, absorbs magic power, and annihilates all energy...

Where did this creature come from?

......

If Lorraine knew that the Faceless Ones were merely the most insignificant of the Old Gods' servants... that they themselves were transformed from the tentacles of the Old Gods, essentially manifestations of beings from the Void, remnants left on food scraps... he would understand why the Old Gods were the enemies of all life forms.
