Chapter 269 Making trouble
Chapter 269 Making trouble
Guiyun Courtyard.
Inside the hall, Guan Xun was talking to Bai Ze.
Chunxue pushed open the door and entered, carrying pastries and tea. Before she could even put the food down properly, Bai Ze jumped up, grabbed a piece, and stuffed it into his mouth. He was genuinely hungry.
"Eh? How could you..." Chunxue frowned, a hint of shock and anger flashing through her heart. This person was too unruly. As a servant, he dared to act so disrespectfully in front of his master.
But then she thought that he was, after all, someone close to the young lady, and she had no right to interfere. Before she could finish speaking, she stopped, silently placed the tray on the table, and then retreated to the corner without saying a word.
My gaze swept over there unintentionally, but then stopped. Although Bai Ze ate quickly, he was not messy at all. Instead, he exuded an indescribable ease.
Upon closer inspection, his features were handsome, and the more you looked at him, the more you felt he was good-looking.
Noticing the gaze fixed on her, Bai Ze suddenly looked up. The moment their eyes met, Chunxue's cheeks flushed slightly, and she hurriedly lowered her eyes.
Why is that maid looking at him? Bai Ze frowned, still chewing on a pastry, and asked indistinctly, "You want some too? Come and have some with me?"
"Ah? No, no." Chunxue waved her hands repeatedly in fright, then turned to Guan Xun and curtsied: "If Miss has no other instructions, I will wait outside. Please call me if you need anything."
"Hmm," Guan Xun replied indifferently.
Just as Chunxue had left, a series of chaotic footsteps and shouts came from outside the courtyard. A large group of people were walking towards them, and the noise made the window frames tremble slightly.
It was Granny Li and her group who arrived.
Granny Li was merely the head maid in Cuihua Courtyard, yet she acted with an air of arrogance even greater than that of the mistress. She glanced to both sides with her triangular eyes and quickened her pace.
Chunxue's face darkened, and she instantly tensed up. She stepped forward, bowed, and said with a hint of wariness, "Grandma Li."
As he spoke, his gaze quickly swept over the group of maids behind Granny Li. Only after he did not see the figure of Second Madam Cuihua did he secretly breathe a sigh of relief.
She then stepped to the side, firmly blocking the entrance to the hall, her demeanor neither humble nor arrogant: "I wonder what important matter Granny Li has brought with so many people?"
"Hmph." Granny Li snorted coldly, her eyes flashing like sharp arrows across Chunxue's face. She took a few steps forward, grabbed Chunxue's arm with her withered fingers, and yanked her away!
Chunxue stumbled and fell onto the bluestone slab, her palms bleeding.
"When the Second Madam heard that the Eldest Miss had just returned, she specially asked me to bring people over to clean the courtyard for the Eldest Miss and to see if there was anything missing so that we could buy some things." Granny Li emphasized the words "Eldest Miss" very much, revealing undisguised sarcasm.
Chunxue ignored the pain and quickly got up, her eyes reddening with grievance: "This is the First Madam's courtyard. It is cleaned every day and has everything you need, so there's no need for Granny Li to trouble herself."
But Granny Li didn't take her seriously at all. After giving her a fierce glare, she raised her chin high and shouted in a shrill voice to the people behind her, "Get inside, all of you!"
As soon as she finished speaking, the group of strong and sturdy maids rushed forward, pushing past Chunxue and rushing into the hall.
In fact, Guan Xun had already noticed it the moment this group of people stepped into Guiyun Courtyard.
Seeing them crowd into the hall, she showed no surprise whatsoever. She continued to leisurely hold her teacup, taking a sip of tea, as if the commotion before her had nothing to do with her.
Bai Ze was similar; he tilted his head back and gulped down a large mouthful of tea, then picked up the teapot and poured himself a full cup, without even lifting his eyelids once, as if everyone in the room was invisible.
Ignored, Granny Li narrowed her eyes and let out a cold snort. She took two steps forward, her sinister gaze sweeping over Guan Xun before she spoke with a forced smile: "This must be the young lady who just returned to the palace?"
“Miss, I am the head maidservant of the Second Madam. The Second Madam was overjoyed to hear that you had just been found and brought back. She specially sent me to arrange a few capable maidservants to serve you and to see if there is anything missing in your courtyard so that we can replenish it in time.”
He kept calling her "Young Miss," and although he did it loudly, there wasn't a trace of respect in his tone. Instead, it carried a condescending and bossy tone, as if he were issuing orders to a servant.
The maids behind her straightened their backs, their eyes filled with arrogance.
Before Guan Xun could respond, Granny Li had already given a wink to the maids behind her.
The group immediately dispersed, using the excuse of cleaning to swiftly overturn the books on the table and knock over the porcelain vases on the shelf. Amidst the crashing and clattering sounds, the tidiness of the entire hall was instantly turned into a mess, completely disregarding the person in charge.
"Miss, this tea has been sitting for so long, it must be completely cold by now. How can it still be drunk?" she shouted in a shrill voice, her eyes sweeping over the still steaming pot of tea, and then giving a hint to a maid.
The maid immediately understood, and twisted her body forward, reaching out to take the teacup from Guan Xun's hand.
"stop!"
Chunxue, who was outside the hall, saw everything clearly. She exclaimed in surprise and rushed in, spreading her arms to block the table. "This tea is still warm. Granny Li, if you continue to act recklessly like this, I will go and report to the Madam and the Palace Master right now!"
As if she had heard a joke, Granny Li's lips curled into a sneer, and she immediately gave a wink to the two burly maids beside her.
The two men immediately stepped forward, each grabbing one of Chunxue's arms, and dragged her out of the hall despite her struggles and curses, slamming her heavily onto the bluestone slab.
"Hmph, you ignorant little brat." She spat and turned to the maid, shouting, "What are you standing there for? Change my tea!"
The maidservant, upon receiving the order, hurried forward with quick, light steps. However, just as her fingertips were about to touch the celadon teacup, she was abruptly frozen in place by an inexplicable aura.
Guan Xun glanced sideways and left, his fingertips flicking slightly, and the hand holding the cup handle suddenly swayed.
The teacup shot out like a white shadow, exploded in mid-air, and the shattered porcelain pieces turned into countless cold glints that shot out rapidly!
"call out!"
Before the maid could even scream, she was pierced by countless porcelain thorns and fell straight down, her blood instantly staining the floor tiles beneath her feet.
The people in the hall froze instantly, and the atmosphere became deathly silent.
The dark red bloodstains from the corpse on the ground seeped into the cracks between the floor tiles, stinging Grandma Li's eyes. She took two steps back abruptly, her voice cracking: "You, you actually dared to kill someone!"
After regaining her composure, a fierce glint flashed in her eyes again. She turned to the group of maids behind her and shouted sternly, "All of you, get her! Arrest this lawless brat who just returned to the manor! How dare she disregard human life in the True Instruction Hall! Today, we must teach her a lesson and show her what rules are!"
Although the maids were also frightened by the cruelty of being pierced by the porcelain shards, they suppressed their fear when they thought of the Second Madam as their backer.
They exchanged a glance, rolled up their sleeves, and bared their teeth as they surrounded Guan Xun.
Chunxue, watching from outside the hall, was horrified. She never expected that the Second Madam would be so audacious as to bring people to Guiyun Courtyard to cause trouble in broad daylight while the Madam was unconscious.
Ignoring the pain in her palm, she scrambled to her feet and ran wildly out of the courtyard, eager to deliver the message. If she was even a step too late, her mistress might suffer.
"Stop eating." Guan Xun seemed not to notice the group of maids pressing him closer. His fingertips casually swept across the table, picked up a clean white porcelain teacup, and then slowly poured hot tea into it. He looked up at Bai Ze and said in a light tone, "Leave none alive."
Upon hearing the sound, Bai Ze immediately slammed the cup in his hand onto the table, and when he looked up, there was no trace of dazedness in his eyes.
This group of people is really too outrageous.
He moved swiftly, and in an instant, his hands flew out. Several crisp sounds were heard as he moved, and the maid at the front immediately clutched her wrist and screamed as she flew backward.
Before the remaining people could react, they were swept by the force of Bai Ze's spinning kick, crashing into the pillars one after another, spitting blood and collapsing to the ground.
In the blink of an eye, the hall was filled with wails, and there was no one left standing.
Bai Ze dusted off his sleeves, turned around and said, "No problem, it's taken care of."
Guan Xun glanced casually at the people wailing all over the hall, her eyes darkening instantly. Dozens of icy daggers materialized in her palm, and with a flick of her wrist, the daggers rained down on the people on the ground.
There was a muffled thud, and before those people could even scream, they were completely silent.
After doing all this, she slowly raised her eyes to look at Bai Ze. Although her tone was calm, it carried a hint of coldness: "You've been by the Imperial Tutor's side for a long time, and you've become just like him in doing things."
She paused, her gaze sweeping over the blood-soaked ground, and added, "Now that's what you call leaving no one alive."
"..." Looking at the corpses lying on the ground, completely lifeless, Bai Ze's Adam's apple bobbed slightly.
Wow... This woman is really ruthless.
Grandma Li, who was leaning against the back, was so frightened by the scene before her that she collapsed to the ground.
“Dead, dead?! They’ve all been killed…!” She trembled violently, her trouser legs were soaked, and she spoke incoherently, “Miss, spare me! It was the Second Madam who forced me to come! Please, have mercy and spare this old servant’s life!”
As she spoke, she scrambled forward, banging her forehead hard against the floor tiles, again and again, until blood quickly seeped out: "This old servant will never dare to do it again! Never dare to do it again!"
Guan Xun glanced at her, his eyes as gloomy as if he were looking at a dead body. In a flash, he was in front of Granny Li and stomped hard on her skull.
With a muffled thud, as she stomped her foot, the head that had hit the ground exploded, splattering red and white grime all over the ground.
Granny Li died completely.
"Pfft!" Bai Ze spat out the mouthful of tea he had just drunk, quickly raised his hand to cover his face, and shook his head like a rattle drum, not daring to look at the miserable scene on the ground.
He felt nauseous.
