Chapter 271 Fu Xingyao Learns to Walk

The summer sun, like an overly enthusiastic old friend, illuminated the entire world brightly and scorchingly early in the morning. Liu Yixin and Fu Yu, a married couple, were in the living room with their one-year-old daughter, Fu Xingyao, as they staged a hilarious and challenging little adventure of learning to walk.

"My darling daughter, you have to learn to walk well today and try to walk all the way to Daddy in one go!" Fu Yu squatted at the other end of the living room, arms outstretched, his face full of anticipation, as if he were calling for a long-lost treasure.

Liu Yixin stood next to Xingyao, gently supporting her small body, and said with a smile, "Xingyao, don't be afraid, Mommy is here, let's walk slowly. Look at Daddy, he's waiting over there like a big fool to carry you."

Xingyao was wearing an adorable little floral dress, her cheeks rosy like ripe apples, made even redder by the warm summer sun and the tense atmosphere of learning to walk. She gripped her mother's fingers tightly with her little hands, her toes wiggling restlessly on the ground, and she was babbling incoherently, probably trying to encourage herself.

"Come on, Xingyao, take a step first, yes, like this." Liu Yixin slowly released one hand, demonstrating the walking motion. Xingyao hesitated for a moment, then carefully lifted her right foot, but as soon as it left the ground, it felt like stepping on cotton, she wobbled and almost fell.

"Oh dear, baby, hold on!" Fu Yu was so anxious on the other side that he was stamping his feet, almost flying over to catch his daughter.

"Don't rush, she's just starting out, take it slow." Liu Yixin reassured Xingyao while saying to Fu Yu, "Don't startle her like that, you'll frighten the child."

Xingyao regained her footing, took a deep breath (although she wasn't very good at deep breathing, she looked like she was trying to cheer herself up), and lifted her right foot again, this time successfully taking a small step forward.

"Wow, Xingyao is amazing!" Liu Yixin clapped excitedly. "Just one more step and you'll be right there with Mom."

Encouraged, Xingyao grew bolder and moved her left foot forward as well. But after only two steps, she tripped over her own little skirt and fell flat on her face.

"Wah—" Xingyao burst into tears, feeling wronged.

"It's okay, it's okay, baby, don't cry." Liu Yixin quickly picked her up and gently patted her back. "It's all this dress's fault, it keeps causing trouble. Let's take it off so you won't trip over it." As she spoke, Liu Yixin started to take off Xingyao's dress. Xingyao was still sobbing, tears streaming down her little face, looking extremely pitiful.

"Xingyao, don't cry, don't cry. Watch Daddy do a magic trick for you." Fu Yu took a small toy out of his pocket and waved it in front of Xingyao. Xingyao's attention was immediately drawn to it, her crying gradually subsided, and her eyes were fixed on the toy.

"Okay, let's continue learning to walk, okay?" Liu Yixin put Xingyao back on the ground. Xingyao was still thinking about the toy, leaning forward and reaching out to grab it.

“Yes, walk towards the toys. Xingyao is the bravest.” Fu Yu said as he slowly backed away, enticing Xingyao to walk forward.

Xingyao started trying to take steps again. This time, she walked more steadily than before. Although her speed was slow, she took each step with great determination.

"Come on, Xingyao, we're almost there!" Liu Yixin followed behind, ready to support her at any moment.

Xingyao finally reached Fu Yu, jumped into his arms, took the toy, and giggled happily.

"You're so great, baby! Here's a big kiss for you!" Fu Yu gave Xing Yao a big kiss on the cheek, which tickled her and made her laugh even harder.

After resting for a while, Liu Yixin said, "Let's practice some more, and Xingyao will definitely go even further."

And so, a new round of learning to walk began. This time, Xingyao walked with more confidence, but after only a few steps, she discovered a ball in the corner of the living room.

"Ball—" Xingyao excitedly pointed at the ball and shouted.

"Learn to walk first, and then you can play with the ball." Liu Yixin tried to draw Xingyao's attention back, but Xingyao wouldn't listen at all. She broke free from her mother's hand and rushed towards the ball.

"Hey, watch out!" Fu Yu shouted. Sure enough, Xing Yao lost her balance and fell headfirst to the ground. But this time she didn't cry. Instead, she lay on the ground and reached for the ball.

"This little one is more interested in balls than learning to walk," Liu Yixin said with a helpless smile, picking Xingyao up.

"Forget it, let her play ball for a while. Maybe she'll leave after playing for a bit," Fu Yu suggested.

So, Xingyao sat on the ground and happily played with the ball, sometimes patting it with her hands, sometimes kicking it with her feet, having a great time. Liu Yixin and Fu Yu sat beside her, watching their daughter with happy smiles on their faces.

"When do you think Xingyao will finally learn to walk?" Liu Yixin asked.

"Soon, she's already made great progress today. Maybe she'll wake up tomorrow and be running all over the house," Fu Yu said with a smile.

As they were talking, Xingyao suddenly stood up, holding the ball, and took a few unsteady steps.

"Wow, Xingyao can walk!" Liu Yixin and Fu Yu exclaimed in surprise.

Xingyao was startled by their shouts, slipped, and fell again. But this time, she quickly got up and continued carrying the ball. Although she walked unsteadily, her face was full of pride and joy.

"It seems that interest really is the best teacher," Liu Yixin said with emotion. "Xingyao is really going all out to play ball."

"We should prepare more things that she's interested in at home in the future, so she can learn anything quickly." Fu Yu nodded in agreement.

Xingyao hugged the ball and walked back and forth in the living room several times. Although she fell down several times, she always managed to get up and keep going. Liu Yixin and Fu Yu kept encouraging her and cheering her on.

Before they knew it, it was noon. Sunlight streamed through the windows into the living room, making everyone feel warm and cozy. Xingyao, tired from playing, sat on the floor, leaning against the ball, and her eyes gradually closed.

"She's asleep," Liu Yixin said softly. "She's exhausted today."

"Yes, but it's a significant step in her life." Fu Yu carefully picked up Xing Yao and carried her towards the bedroom. "Our baby has grown up."

Liu Yixin followed behind, her heart filled with emotion as she looked at Xingyao sleeping soundly in Fu Yu's arms. This summer had become exceptionally beautiful and unforgettable because of Xingyao's first steps.

After putting Xingyao on the bed and covering her with a blanket, Liu Yixin and Fu Yu tiptoed out of the bedroom.

"What should we have for lunch today? Let's reward our hardworking little one and treat ourselves too," Fu Yu asked.

"How about dumplings? Xingyao loves them too," Liu Yixin suggested.

"Okay, I'll go buy groceries. You stay home and look after Xingyao." Fu Yu said and went out.

Liu Yixin returned to the living room and couldn't help but smile when she saw Xingyao's toys scattered on the floor. She began to tidy up the toys, recalling how Xingyao had learned to walk earlier, her heart filled with happiness.

A little while later, Fu Yu returned with the groceries. The two went into the kitchen together and began preparing to make dumplings.

"Do you think Xingyao will run around everywhere and be hard to manage after she learns to walk?" Liu Yixin asked while chopping the filling.

"Definitely, we'll be very busy then. But watching her grow up day by day and learn more and more makes it all worthwhile, no matter how tiring it is," Fu Yu said with a smile.

The two chatted and laughed as they made dumplings, filling the kitchen with a warm atmosphere. By the time the dumplings were finished, Xingyao had woken up.

Liu Yixin carried Xingyao to the dining table, where Fu Yu served steaming dumplings. Xingyao looked at the dumplings and clapped her little hands excitedly.

"Come on, Xingyao, try some of Mom's dumplings." Liu Yixin picked up a dumpling, blew on it, and fed it to Xingyao. Xingyao ate with relish, and soon ate several.

"Looks like we're really starving today," Fu Yu said with a smile. "Learning to walk must have taken a lot of energy."

After lunch, the family sat on the sofa to rest. Xingyao nestled in Liu Yixin's arms, playing with her little toys. Liu Yixin and Fu Yu chatted while watching Xingyao.

"Let's take Xingyao out to play when she's a little older," Liu Yixin said. "Let's go to the beach and let her see the sea."

"Great! I can't wait to see her running on the beach," Fu Yu said with anticipation.

"But we'll have to keep a close eye on her then, so she doesn't fall into the sea," Liu Yixin said with a smile.

"Don't worry, I'll definitely stay by her side every step of the way," Fu Yu assured, patting his chest.

And so, in this hot summer, Liu Yixin and Fu Yu spent a day filled with laughter and warmth with Xingyao. The moment Xingyao learned to walk was not only a milestone in her life, but also another beautiful beginning to the happy life of this little family.
