Chapter 45 Yu Rou's Birthday 2

Chapter 45 Yu Rou's Birthday 2

The woman came out of a room, and Qiuhe watched silently from the corner. After the woman closed the door, she leaned against it.

Qiuhe noticed that the woman's face was filled with pain and sorrow, tears welling in her eyes. She was clenching her teeth as if she were trying to suppress her emotions, but then he noticed that her lips began to tremble uncontrollably.

Her eyes grew increasingly moist, and then tears streamed down her face uncontrollably. The woman could no longer hold back her emotions and burst into tears, her expression one of profound anguish.

She knelt on the ground, covering her face with her hands, gritting her teeth and sobbing uncontrollably. His tears, snot, and saliva mingled together, and only his sobs could be heard. He opened his mouth but couldn't make a sound.

He was now crying so hard he couldn't speak, her sobs accompanied by coughing and hoarseness. Finally, the woman began to mutter to herself, "Why, why, Mingming... so many children were saved, I... I could have saved so many people."

"But, but why couldn't you save her? God! You're blind, you're blind!" The woman's cries grew more and more anguished, as if she had suffered a tremendous injustice.

After a long while, the woman forced herself to stand up. He limped away, leaning against the wall, muttering repeatedly, "Why her? Why her? Why her?" as he walked away, his voice fading into the distance.

Qiuhe was puzzled by this scene. He slowly emerged from the corner and went to the door. There was nothing written on the wall or on the door; it seemed to be just an ordinary room.

Qiuhe placed her hand on it and gently pushed open the door. Peeking inside, she discovered it was just a warehouse filled with discarded medical tools, extremely messy, as if it hadn't been cleaned in a very long time.

Qiuhe entered the room and got a clearer view. Some medical equipment was covered in dust, and there were cobwebs in the corners. The room was also very quiet and deserted. This time, Qiuhe noticed something strange about the carpet on the floor in front of her.

He slowly walked over, squatted down, and examined the carpet closely. He discovered that there were cut marks on both sides of the carpet, and the pattern on the carpet didn't match at all, as if a piece in the middle had been separated. Qiuhe gently pulled on the middle piece of carpet and found that it came out easily.

Only then did Qiuhe notice something resembling a doorknob under the carpet. He gently reached in and flipped it open, revealing a basement.

Qiuhe couldn't understand why there was a basement here. He went downstairs. The basement lights were all motion-sensor lights, and the lighting was very dim. Qiuhe walked forward, and after turning a corner, all that remained was a straight corridor.

At the end of the corridor was a door, and the corridor was so dark that you couldn't see your hand in front of your face, except for the faint flickering light overhead. Qiuhe walked forward slowly, feeling the air around him was very oppressive, and finally he reached the door.

Qiuhe placed her hand on the doorknob, swallowed nervously, and finally mustered the courage to open the door. Inside, she found a room with two bookshelves.

Directly in front of the door, against the wall, was a table, and behind the table was a chair. Looking at the bookshelves on either side, Qiuhe realized that the top shelves weren't filled with books, but rather several files.

"This is... the archives?" Qiuhe thought to himself as he slowly walked in. He curiously examined the surrounding files, randomly picking one up and finding it to be a medical record.

Qiuhe looked at the medical record and saw the following: "Present Illness: Leukemia, treatment outcome: incurable, patient's name, ***". Qiuhe noticed a red cross marked next to the patient's name.

He picked it up. He noticed that many of the documents on the right-hand bookshelf were identical, with red crosses marked next to the names, and that these patients all suffered from incurable terminal illnesses.

Looking at these files, the atmosphere in the room felt incredibly oppressive and heavy. Every breath felt like an unbearable struggle, and every moment in this room felt like being in hell.

Finally, Qiuhe walked to the bookshelf on the left, picked up a file on the top, "Present medical history: myocardial infarction, medical outcome: recovering, patient name, ***". Qiuhe picked up many files and found that they were all related to terminal illnesses.

But the diagnoses all stated that the patients were recovering. Qiuhe understood then that the files on the left bookshelf represented patients who were recovering, while those on the right must be those who had passed away.

Qiuhe picked up another file at random and was shocked to find that the medical record listed his own name: "Present Illness: Late-stage depression, Medical Outcome: Recovering, Patient Name: Qiuhe"

Qiuhe stared at the medical record, speechless for a long time. "I...have...depression," Qiuhe murmured, as if recalling some memories of herself, though few.

But she also remembered that she did seem to have depression, though she couldn't recall why. What Qiuhe found even more unbelievable was that late-stage depression could be cured.

He wasn't sure if he was really getting better. He checked the room again, and when he got close to the table, he noticed a gap in the drawer under it, as if it had been opened before but hadn't been completely closed.

He gently pulled open the drawer, inside which was a file: "Present medical history: late-stage cancer, medical results indicate no cure, recommended to give up." Qiuhe couldn't understand why the file contained the words "recommend to give up."

"Incurable," he thought, "isn't this the file of a deceased person? And I also noticed water stains on the file, as if they were dripped on one by one." Qiuhe wanted to see whose file it was, but just as his gaze was about to land on the name, everything around him suddenly changed.

He stood there, stunned, his eyes fixed on his empty hand. He looked down at the floor, which led to the outside corridor. Qiuhe stood there, looking around, unable to believe what had happened.

She couldn't understand why she was in the corridor. She had just been in that strange archives room, but now she was outside. When she turned around, she realized it was the same door as the warehouse she had started with.

Qiuhe stared at the door, a bead of sweat sliding down his cheek. He placed his hand on the doorknob, wanting to go back in and see what had happened, but as soon as he raised his hand, he suddenly felt a little dizzy.

His hand couldn't move forward an inch, and it trembled incessantly, as if resisting, but Qiuhe desperately wanted to know the truth this time. Last time, he and Yurou had suddenly been transported from their way back to the hospital to their current location.

Moreover, so many strange things had happened to him; this time, he was determined to find out exactly what had happened. He forcibly placed his hand on the doorknob.

Just as he was about to turn the doorknob after realizing he had succeeded, a tear fell directly onto the back of his hand. Qiuhe froze on the spot once again, realizing that tears were streaming down his face.

"No, no," Qiuhe found herself uttering these words uncontrollably. She felt as if her heart had been put into a shredder, tears streaming down her face, and she felt like she was about to faint.

It was as if she was afraid of what was behind the door, or rather, as if there was something behind the door that she didn't want to see. Qiuhe let go of the doorknob, and that feeling suddenly disappeared, and the tears stopped flowing.

But the tear stains at the corners of his eyes proved that he had just cried. Qiuhe no longer wanted to enter that door. He went to the bathroom to wipe the tear stains off his face, and finally returned to Yu Rou's room.

As soon as Qiuhe pushed open the door, he saw a man in medical attire injecting something into Yurou's shoulder with a small syringe. But the instant Qiuhe opened the door...

The man seemed severely frightened, instantly putting away the needle and hiding it behind his back, staring anxiously at Qiuhe at the door. Standing next to him was a woman, Yu Rou's mother.

"It's alright, don't worry, this child is Qiuhe, the one I told you about," Yu Rou's mother seemed to be explaining the situation to the man. The man breathed a slight sigh of relief and wiped the sweat from his brow.

Yu Rou spotted Qiu He at the door, her face beaming with joy. She quickly jumped off the bed and hugged Qiu He by the door. "Qiu He, you're finally back!" Yu Rou was overjoyed.

He seemed to have forgotten everything that happened yesterday, while the man next to him quietly escaped from the room while the two were embracing. Before leaving, he took all the things on the bed with him.

Not even a single packaging bag was left on the ground. Yu Rou slowly released Qiu He, but held his hands tightly. "What surprise did Qiu He prepare for me? Can I see it now?"

Yu Rou's eyes were full of anticipation. Qiu He was still thinking about what to say, but he couldn't help but hug Yu Rou.

"Yu Rou, please, please don't leave me."
