Chapter 232 The Eden Ship
Chapter 232 The Eden Ship
All the sirens were caught off guard. Louise's assistants roared and transformed, each swinging out their sticky fish tails and turning their hands into sharp claws to attack the blood tentacles.
When Lu Xiaoxiao first encountered this bizarre life form, the Blood Tentacle, she initially mistook it for a third-party force from the Underworld instance. She was pondering whether she could escape while the two sides were locked in conflict. Suddenly, the Blood Tentacle split into more than a dozen smaller tentacles, instantly annihilating all the sea monsters present with overwhelming force!
Before the short-haired girl could react, the spacious operating room fell into dead silence.
All the blood tentacles retracted into the ventilation duct, and a boy with slightly long hair jumped down from above.
The boy approached against the dim light, his blue blood staining his jade-like face, making him appear dreamlike.
Lu Xiaoxiao was stunned, her gaze uncontrollably drawn to him. The moment Ji Xingyi walked in front of her, her heart pounded like a drum. But the boy didn't stop; instead, he walked past her and headed towards Jiang Lin next door.
Seeing that Jiang Lin was safe and sound, Ji Xing finally breathed a sigh of relief. He had a bad feeling after noticing Klein leading the surgically recovered Cao Lu into the second basement level, so he went out to check. Luckily, he arrived in time; he didn't want to imagine what would have happened if he had been a few minutes later.
"Why are you here?" Ji Xingyi's tone was somewhat reproachful, but her movements were as gentle as ever as she wrapped her arms around Jiang Lin's waist and picked him up.
Jiang Lin rolled her eyes at someone in her heart, but didn't show it on her face. She wrapped her arms around Ji Xingyi's neck, nuzzled him, and said aggrievedly, "Why did you take so long to get here?"
Ji Xingyi felt a pang of heartache at that cry, and dared not blame him. She tightened her embrace and said, "Let's go."
"Waaah!" Lu Xiaoxiao, having recovered from her shock upon hearing the two were about to leave, struggled to call for help.
Ji Xingyi didn't turn around. He didn't recognize Lu Xiaoxiao and thought she was just a passerby. The second basement level was fraught with danger, and he didn't want to stay there any longer, but he called out to Jiang Lin.
Jiang Lin: "She's Jiang Yu's person, and she has something in her possession."
Ji Xingyi then stopped, summoned a tentacle, wrapped it around Lu Xiaoxiao's body, and dragged her away.
There was only one elevator leading to the deck. Ji Xingyi originally intended to take Jiang Lin back first, but footsteps came from the direction of the elevator, forcing him to turn around and head towards his previous hiding place. After wandering around and passing through a series of small cubicles, Ji Xingyi entered one of them.
Jiang Lin glanced around and saw the rusty table and iron bed.
There were many empty cans of beef and fruit piled on the table, and a blackened and moldy quilt on the bed, as if someone had lived here a long time ago.
"This is the sailors' quarters on the Eden." Ji Xingyi put down Jiang Lin's legs, still holding Jiang Lin's waist with his other hand to prevent her from falling, and took out a piece of newspaper from his pocket.
The content is a news report about the launch of the Eden cruise ship at the end of the last century.
“Bai Chuchu said that the Noah was bought from a businessman from Country Y by his father and his friends. I think the Eden was the predecessor of the Noah.” Ji Xingyi explained while manipulating his tentacles to move the table.
There was a gap under the table, and judging from the damaged state of the steel plate on the ground, it looked like it had been chiseled open.
Ji Xingyi first threw Lu Xiaoxiao down, then took Jiang Lin down with him, and manipulated the blood tentacles to move the table back to block the hole.
The place was pitch black, and as soon as he stepped out, he heard a rumbling sound—the vibration of an engine. Jiang Lin's eyesight was sharp enough to pierce the darkness, allowing him to see his surroundings clearly.
This is an equipment compartment located at the bottom of the ship. Judging from the noise, the Noah's propulsion system is right next door.
"Brother Ji, is that you?" A girl's voice suddenly came from the darkness.
Ji Xingyi responded, and a candle immediately lit up the dark cabin.
Lu Xingtong rushed over carrying an oil lamp.
The girl stopped abruptly when she saw that Ji Xingyi was holding Jiang Lin in his arms, and the smile on her face froze almost imperceptibly.
"Brother Ji." Lu Xingtong reorganized her thoughts, about to step forward and ask about the situation outside, when she was interrupted by a scream. Lu Xingtong was startled and stepped back; she had just stepped on someone.
The effects of the medicine on Lu Xiaoxiao's body finally began to wear off, and she gradually regained her strength. She crawled from the ground to the corner of the wall, revealing a face swollen like a pig's head.
His face was bruised and swollen; it was a pitiful sight.
"What's wrong with you?" Jiang Lin almost didn't recognize Lu Xiaoxiao.
"It's all your fault..." If Ji Xingyi hadn't been her savior, Lu Xiaoxiao would have already started cursing. Dragged along by the blood tentacles the whole way, and with them not slowing down when turning corners, her head was practically spinning.
Jiang Lin: "..."
Ji Xingyi: "...I'm sorry."
Seeing that the others ignored her, Lu Xingtong interjected, "Brother Ji, is it very dangerous outside? When can we go back?"
"Keep your voice down, do you want to die?" Lu Xingtong's voice was so loud that Lu Xiaoxiao rolled her eyes at her.
Lu Xingtong was startled like a little rabbit, and looked at Ji Xingyi with a pitiful look. Finally, she lowered her voice and said, "I'm sorry, Brother Ji, have I caused you any trouble?"
"Turn off the lights. It's dangerous outside right now. I'll take you out when it's safe."
Ji Xingyi casually replied, and after putting Jiang Lin down, he noticed the needle marks on the back of Jiang Lin's hand and frowned: "How long has it been?"
"About five hours," Jiang Lin said with a light smile. "I'm fine."
Ji Xingyi sighed softly: "Can you move your body now?"
Jiang Lin hadn't inhaled the green toxic gas at all; he was just pretending to play around. When he caught sight of Lu Xingtong still standing there, Jiang Lin simply stopped getting up and deliberately answered in a weak voice, "I don't have any strength. Carry me."
Ji Xingyi sat down next to Jiang Lin and pulled him into her arms: "The poison gas only makes people temporarily lose consciousness, and they will be fine soon."
Lu Xiaoxiao gave Jiang Lin a strange look. She was almost fully recovered, so why was this man so weak?
Seeing that Ji Xingyi was only concerned about Jiang Lin, Lu Xingtong felt extremely disappointed. She bit her lip, her eyes filled with tears, and returned to the corner to blow out the oil lamp.
Lu Xingtong curled up alone, like the little match girl abandoned by the whole world.
Jiang Lin kept all of Lu Xingtong's actions in mind and idly played with Ji Xingyi's fingers in the dark.
"Go to sleep, I'll keep watch over you," Ji Xingyi said softly, patting Jiang Lin's shoulder.
"I want to kiss you," Jiang Lin suddenly whispered, looking up.
Ji Xingyi said with a hint of helplessness, "Linlin."
Jiang Lin bit the boy's earlobe: "They can't see."
After glancing at Lu Xingtong and Lu Xiaoxiao in the darkness, Ji Xingyi grabbed Jiang Lin's waist with one hand and supported the back of Jiang Lin's head with the other, obediently kissing him.
