Chapter 240: Suicide by Poisoning
Chapter 240: Suicide by Poisoning
Song Miqiu instinctively wanted to leave. When she saw out of the corner of her eye that the guard chose to ignore her and leave, Song Miqiu was puzzled, but fortunately she had survived. Before the guard could react, Song Miqiu wanted to escape this place as soon as possible.
"Stop!"
With her back to the other person, Song Miqiu trembled in fright when she heard the guard shout. She shrank her shoulders and ran forward in small steps.
As she ran, Song Miqiu glanced down at the porcelain bottles in her arms, then simply hugged them all to her chest. She threw the tray behind her and ran away quickly.
The other party clearly did not want to let Song Miqiu go. When faced with the flying tray, the guard's eyes twitched. He raised his hand and used the unsheathed sword in his hand to knock it away.
He gritted his teeth, staring intently at Song Miqiu's retreating figure, and shouted at her to stop.
The guard was terrified. If the old woman told him everything she had just seen, he would be finished. He knew the emperor would not let him off the hook.
His eyes hardened; he knew the man before him had to be eliminated. The guard gritted his teeth, glanced around, and finally raised his sword, drawing it from its sheath and frantically chasing after Song Miqiu.
But this was the imperial palace, and while the guards could still shout a few words at first, they didn't dare to do so at all later.
He could only quicken his pace to catch up with Song Miqiu.
As she fled, she glanced back and saw the man's murderous gaze. She instinctively trembled and rubbed herself in fear.
Song Miqiu gritted her teeth. She felt a sense of despair. She could feel her physical strength rapidly declining, and she believed that it wouldn't be long before she couldn't run anymore.
Then I will really lose my life under the guards' swords.
Just when Song Miqiu was about to despair completely, she suddenly saw a group of people. Her eyes lit up instantly, and she quickly ran over.
The guard wanted to continue the chase, but then he discovered that there were people in the direction Song Miqiu had left! Even if he wanted to capture them, he couldn't bring himself to do it, so he had to stop the pursuit.
When Song Miqiu ran over and took a closer look, she immediately recognized the other person as the concubine's maid who was supposed to deliver the medicine. Song Miqiu silently kowtowed to the heavens.
This is truly a godsend!
She rushed to the other woman, grabbed her hand, and said hastily, "This was sent to you by the Imperial Hospital on behalf of your Ladyship, but there was an accident on the way, and the tray is lost. Please put these on here for your Ladyship to take with her."
The palace maid gasped a few times, completely bewildered by Song Miqiu's actions.
Watching the other person hurriedly run away, the palace maid looked down at the porcelain bottles in her arms and then remembered that her mistress had indeed sent someone to the Imperial Hospital to discuss medicine some time ago.
Song Miqiu ran all the way back to the Imperial Hospital. She leaned on the door frame, panting, and looked back. Seeing that the other party had not followed, she finally breathed a sigh of relief.
She helped him back to his room, and Song Miqiu poured himself a glass of cold tea. He had only taken a few sips when the door opened.
Thinking of her previous experience, Song Miqiu's body trembled involuntarily. She slowly raised her eyes to look at the other person, and only after seeing that it was Ming Taicheng did she breathe a sigh of relief. "You scared me to death!"
"What happened to you? You look so disheveled." Ming Taicheng looked at her in confusion, and then, noticing Song Miqiu's hair soaked with sweat, he asked instinctively, "You just brought me a pill, did you think there was a dog chasing you?"
Song Miqiu slumped weakly on the table, muttering, "Not a dog, but no different from a dog."
These words left Ming Taicheng somewhat confused. He strode over to Song Miqiu and sat down, placing his hand on Song Miqiu's forehead to feel its temperature before patiently asking in a low voice, "What exactly happened?"
Song Miqiu weakly raised her eyes to look at Ming Taicheng. She propped herself up on the table, took a weak breath, and told Ming Taicheng everything she had seen on the way.
“Although it’s not good to make a big fuss about this, if we don’t, they might try to silence you later.” Song Miqiu was silent for a moment, then went to find the Imperial Guards.
In the evening, Song Miqiu was notified that the person having the affair had been found, and that Song Miqiu should go to confirm whether it was the person or not, so as not to arrest the wrong person.
Song Miqiu followed Ming Taicheng into a room. She strode in and saw that Ming Taicheng had already walked up to the Imperial Guards and was muttering something to himself.
Ming Taicheng returned to Song Miqiu's side, pointed at the two people, and said to Song Miqiu, "They are right here. Take a close look and see if they are the two people you saw."
Upon hearing this, Song Miqiu looked in the direction indicated and saw that the two people were tied together by the Imperial Guards, but their heads were both lowered, making it impossible for Song Miqiu to see their faces clearly.
"I can't even see what these two people look like, how am I supposed to see them?" Song Miqiu muttered unconsciously. The Imperial Guards nearby overheard this and immediately ordered their men to walk up to the other person and lift him up.
This made Song Miqiu blink. She looked at them with a sense of flattery, as she had never really enjoyed this feeling before.
"Can you see clearly now?" The leader of the Imperial Guards bowed to Song Miqiu and explained in a deep voice, "Adultery is a major taboo in the palace. If you really find this person, we will definitely reward you handsomely."
The Imperial Guards didn't continue their conversation, but Song Miqiu didn't listen much. She focused her attention on the guard, who had been chasing her closely yesterday, so much so that she had glanced at him a few more times.
She quickly confirmed that the guard was the man from yesterday, but when Song Miqiu focused her gaze on another person, her brows furrowed instantly.
The man quickly noticed Song Miqiu's emotions and followed closely behind her, asking, "Isn't this the maid?"
Song Miqiu opened his mouth, and just as he was about to respond, two muffled groans suddenly came from the corners of the mouths of the guards and palace maids. Song Miqiu immediately looked over and saw that blood was flowing from the corners of the mouths of the guards and palace maids.
However, the blood had a faint black tinge. Song Miqiu and Ming Taicheng exchanged a glance and instantly realized that the other had committed suicide by poisoning himself.
Not only that, Song Miqiu also noticed that the guard had given her a resentful look before he left, as if accusing her of meddling in his business!
Suddenly, two vibrant lives collapsed before her eyes. Song Miqiu was momentarily stunned. She instinctively took a few steps back, panting, her eyes fixed on the man's face.
Even after death, the other person refused to close their eyes, staring intently at Song Miqiu.
