Chapter 319 Someone Wants to See You

Chapter 319 Someone Wants to See You

hospital.

It sounds like it's raining again outside the window, and you can tell from the sound of the raindrops hitting the window that this rain is quite heavy.

Siyi slowly opened her eyes. She had been trapped in the police station for a day and a night, and with a severe cold coming on, she was really exhausted. She slept quite soundly, having a few dreams intermittently. When she woke up, she realized that she hadn't seen her two precious children for a long time.

When will this unexpected disaster finally pass?

Just as she reached up to touch her forehead, a long-unseen handsome face flashed before her eyes. Siyi was startled, then quickly got out of bed, but the movement was too abrupt, and she accidentally bumped her hand on the bedside table. She winced in pain, and Zheng Muyan quickly grabbed her hand, his face full of concern. "Hey, you're a mother of two now, why are you still so clumsy? Where did you hurt yourself? Does it hurt?"

"Senior Brother!" It had been almost a month since they last parted. At that time, Siyi truly thought she might never see him again in her life. But she never expected that he would actually appear in front of her again. She couldn't help but feel a little excited. "...I, am I dreaming? When did you get here? Have you been here all along? Why didn't you wake me up?"

"Why do you look so surprised?" Zheng Muyan chuckled softly, grabbed a cushion for her, and helped her sit on the bed. "I know you've suffered these past few days. It's rare to see you sleeping so soundly, so how could I bear to wake you?"

Siyi was a little embarrassed. "Senior brother, do you... already know about that matter?" She understood Zheng Muyan's personality. When he said he would let her be happy and not make things difficult for her, she knew that he would not appear in front of her again. But he suddenly appeared again, which must be because of her case.

Her senior brother was always so kind to her; he always appeared without hesitation whenever she needed help the most.

“Siyi, how could I not know about something this big?” Zheng Muyan sighed and said directly, “There’s no need to say anything else. Now tell me the whole story. If this case goes to court, I will be your lawyer.”

"Senior brother, why are you so good to me? I... I don't know how to repay you for what you've done."

Zheng Muyan reached out and ruffled her short hair, smiling indulgently. "Silly girl, what do I need in return? The best reward you can give me is happiness and peace."

"Senior brother..."

"Hey, Siyi, you've never been a sentimental woman, so don't look at me like that." Knowing her inner turmoil, Zheng Muyan understood perfectly well that she could never give him the love he truly desired. Therefore, he preferred to be a knight, standing beside the princess, protecting her as a knight. After all, truly loving someone doesn't necessarily mean possessing them, does it? Her happiness was the best reward for him, and he had decided to do this for the rest of his life!

He deliberately broke the awkward silence between them with a lighthearted tone, "...Alright, stop looking at me with those 'affectionate' eyes. You don't know, if Jiang Yan finds out, he'll definitely beat me up. I'm here to help you with your lawsuit. To be honest, it's been a long time since I've been to court. If I really lose..." He touched his nose sheepishly and winked at Siyi, "Do you think if I really lose, I'll end up dead in the street?"

"Senior brother!" Siyi bit her lip and looked at Zheng Muyan sincerely. "Don't joke like that. Even if you really lose, I won't blame you! Thank you, senior brother. Really, thank you so much for always being by my side. Every time I need help, you always stand up for me without hesitation. It's my luck to have you as my senior brother in this life!"

That only means I'm your senior brother; I can only ever be your senior brother in this lifetime.

Zheng Muyan concealed the fleeting sadness in his eyes, and his smile deepened. "Alright! Then let's carry this luck to the very end. If I really make you lose the case, then your senior brother will go in and accompany you, okay?"

"Stop talking nonsense!"

“Then let’s get serious.” Zheng Muyan knew that time was of the essence, so he stopped joking with Siyi and got to the point. “Tell me what exactly happened in this case. I have a general understanding of it, but think carefully about how the whole thing happened. Don’t miss any clues.”

"Ok, I know."

Previously, she had been interrogated at the police station, staring at that light for 24 hours straight. Siyi was dizzy and disoriented, unable to recall the whole incident at all. But now it was different. She was relaxed, and the person she was facing was Zheng Muyan, which was a completely different concept. Her thoughts became much clearer.

It took the two of them almost an hour to sort out the whole case. Although the situation was still not ideal, Zheng Muyan comforted himself as he left, telling himself that he would definitely find a way to find a clue that could be used to turn the situation around.

After Zheng Muyan left, Ye Zhenghao happened to arrive at the hospital. Seeing that Siyi had woken up and her complexion had improved considerably, he breathed a sigh of relief.

“The day you had a fever, your older brother was also terrified. Siyi, I’m sorry, I still couldn’t protect you and let you suffer so much.”

"Big brother, why do you always say things like that?" Jiang Yan Hui did it before, and now Ye Zheng Hao is doing it too. Actually, it's their constant negativity in front of her that makes her feel even more guilty. They are both such proud and arrogant men, and she is so fortunate to have their sincere protection. "None of you have wronged me. You've both been very good to me. Some things are bound to happen, and that's unavoidable. Let's not talk about this anymore, okay? Um... where did Jiang Yan Hui go?"

She smoothly changed the subject, and Ye Zhenghao readily chimed in, "He must have gone to find Beibei. We all know that Beibei was taken away by Lin Zhenbiao. I think he'll definitely be able to bring the child back this time, so don't worry." He glanced at Siyi, hesitated for a moment, and then asked, "Your father might not know much about what happened to you while he's in America, but your mother... she does know. She called me last night and said she wanted to come and see you."

Siyi's expression flickered, and after a moment of hesitation, she shook her head seriously. "No, brother, tell Mom I'm fine. Also, once I've sorted things out here, I'll take the child to City A to see her. But she shouldn't come over. You know Lin Zhenbiao is right here, and I don't want any more trouble."

Ye Zhenghao nodded, thinking that she was quite thoughtful. "You're right. Actually, there's something I've always been puzzled about... Five years ago, Mom's case was also related to Lin Zhenbiao, but then they said they wouldn't press charges anymore. Over the years, I've investigated some leads, but they always seem to disappear at the crucial moment. Siyi, did Mom say anything to you back then?"

Xu Shenwei's words still had a great impact on him. Ye Zhenghao's mind was filled with these messages, and he couldn't calm down. He felt that the whole thing was not simple. What secrets were there that were related to him but that he was completely unaware of?

"Big brother, why are you suddenly asking this..." Siyi was a little surprised. Actually, five years ago she did know more than Ye Zhenghao, and she had no intention of telling him. After all, those things weren't easy for anyone to accept, and for the past five years, everyone had gotten along peacefully. Since it was a secret, she preferred it to remain a secret forever. "Mom... what could she have told me that you don't know? Don't overthink it..."

"I'm not just imagining things." Perhaps because his mind was too chaotic, Ye Zhenghao didn't notice the unnatural expression on Siyi's face. He simply said seriously, "Someone told me this. Although they didn't say it clearly, I understood. I always felt that my becoming the bureau chief was no simple matter, and there must be some hidden story behind Mom's case back then. It's just a pity that Jiang Jizhen has been lying in the hospital all these years without any progress, and Lin Zhenbiao's side can forget about getting any clues."

"Big brother..."

"Sigh, never mind, why am I telling you all this? You should get some rest." Ye Zhenghao stood up, feeling annoyed, and helped Siyi lie down. "Don't worry, you don't need to go to the police station anymore. Just rest here. Jiang Yanhui and Zheng Muyan are helping you with the problems here, which puts my mind at ease. Mom is very worried about you. I'll go back to City A right away. If anything happens, just call me."

"Okay, big brother, then be careful. Also, please tell my mother that I'm fine and that she doesn't need to worry."

.........

Siyi rested in bed for a while, probably because she had really hurt herself these past few days, so she drifted off to sleep again. She was woken up by a clear and familiar child's voice calling her "Mom" affectionately. At first, she thought she was dreaming, but when she opened her eyes and saw Beibei right in front of her, she realized that she was not dreaming and that Jiang Yan had really brought the child with her!

"Beibei..." Her eyes welled up with tears. Although it had only been a few days, it felt like an eternity to her. She missed him terribly and reached out to hug her son tightly, kissing his little face with a mix of tears and laughter. "Mommy missed you so much! Were you hurt? Did anyone bully you while you were out there?"

"No, but Mom, you're holding me too tight! I can't breathe!" The little guy complained, frowning. Siyi quickly loosened her grip a bit, and Beibei grinned at Siyi. "I met a fierce old man these past few days. Although he never smiles at me, he didn't bully me either. I bullied him instead!"

Siyi knew, of course, who the "fierce old man" he was talking about was. Her smile froze slightly, but she didn't say much. Some blood ties are ultimately unbreakable. "Really? Did the old man say anything to you?"

"Yes, he always makes me call him great-grandfather. When I refuse, he talks bad things about you, Mom. I hate him the most!" The little guy frowned, looking completely indignant on behalf of his mother. A warm feeling welled up in Siyi's heart. No matter how wronged or resentful she felt, it didn't matter anymore. With two children like these, what else could she be resentful about?

Actually, the person who was truly unwilling to accept it was Lin Zhenbiao, right?

She could almost imagine how miserable his life must be, with his closest loved ones leaving him one by one. All he could do was cling to the last straw. If he didn't persist in doing something, his faith in life might collapse in an instant, and at his age, he might truly be heading down a lonely path to the end.

Is he pitiful?

Perhaps he truly is pitiful, but isn't there always a reason why someone is pitiful? He's done so many bad things; one day he'll get his comeuppance. Although Siyi is kind, she's not a foolish woman. She can't forgive someone who has repeatedly schemed against her, someone who even wants to kill her.

"Sweetie, you did a great job. Mom is so proud of you. But remember, don't run around everywhere anymore, okay? Otherwise, some weirdo might really come and take you away! You won't be so lucky next time."

"Hehe, Mom, isn't that weird uncle Dad? Dad is very good to Beibei, and Beibei likes Dad very much. Mom, have you forgiven Dad?"

Although she knew her son had known for a long time that Jiang Yan Hui was their father, she was still a little surprised to hear him call him that so easily. "You told your uncle? Well, Mom is asking if you've started calling him Dad now?"

"Of course!" Blood ties are truly strange things. Before, when Beibei was looking at Ye Zhenghao, he had an expression of pure admiration. But when he was really looking at Jiang Yanhui, the respect he showed came from the depths of his eyes. It was the continuation of a life, a son's most ordinary yet most extraordinary admiration and respect for his father. "Dad said he didn't abandon us. He just did something wrong, so Mom took me and my sister and hid. But now Dad knows he was wrong, so Mom, please forgive Dad! Just like when Beibei accidentally broke a bowl, Mom, you would forgive Beibei, right?"

"You little rascal, did your dad teach you to say that?" Siyi looked at her son, both amused and exasperated. She then realized that Jiang Yanhui was not in the room. She pinched her son's nose and asked, "Where's your dad?"

"He just went out to answer the phone when the call came in."

Siyi nodded and gently nudged her son. "Then you go out and find your dad first. Mom is going to the restroom, and then we'll go eat together." She was almost fully recovered; it was just a cold. She hadn't had a proper meal in the past two days. Now that her son was finally back, she was just waiting for Jiang Yan to go back to America and bring Tiantian back as well, so she could finally relax completely.

Beibei was already starving, and as soon as she heard that she could go eat something good, she jumped three feet high and ran out of the ward with great joy.

Siyi saw her son leave before she put her feet down. Just as she was about to get out of bed to go to the bathroom, she heard a slight sound of the door opening. She thought Jiang Yan had returned and was about to call out when she saw two men in black and an elderly man standing in front of her.

Siyi's eyes widened suddenly, startled. The old man had a full head of white hair and was probably around seventy years old, but he stood there with his hands behind his back, exuding a powerful sense of pressure. Especially the expression between his brows; Siyi felt as if she had seen him somewhere before, exactly like another old man in her memory—

These people are not good people!

Siyi instinctively stood up and wanted to scream for help, but Lao Ming waved his hand, and someone quickly stepped forward and covered Siyi's mouth. She struggled a couple of times but couldn't break free. Then she heard the old man chuckle and slowly say, "Miss Ye, don't worry, we won't hurt you. We just want you to come with us. Someone wants to see you."

Siyi couldn't speak, and could only glare angrily at the old butler. He probably saw that she wanted to say something, so he raised his hand and moved his fingers. The man in black who had been covering Siyi's mouth immediately released his hand from her mouth, but the force with which he held her hands did not decrease at all.

Siyi saw him open his mouth, move his lips as if to shout, knowing Jiang Yan was definitely in the hospital. But these people were clearly prepared, so she thought that if she shouted, it would be best if he heard her, but even if he didn't, it would be good enough to alert those outside. However, someone acted faster than her—

The old butler seemed to have anticipated her scream, and almost the instant she opened her mouth, he pulled a small bow hair clip from his pocket, held it between his fingers, and handed it to Siyi. "Miss Ye, do you recognize this?"

Siyi's expression changed drastically. She had bought that hair clip for Tiantian herself, so how could she not recognize it?

But how did this hairpin end up in this old man's hands? Wasn't Tian Tian receiving medical treatment in the United States? Jiang Yan hadn't mentioned anything about Tian Tian before, so what exactly happened?

She struggled nervously for a moment, "Where did you get this? Who are you? What do you want?!"

“Miss Ye, you’re so young, yet your memory isn’t so good. Come to think of it, we’ve met a few times. But I’m old, a frail old man, so it’s normal that you don’t remember me.” The old butler toyed with the hairpin in his hand, his expression nonchalant, but his words were sharp. “Miss Ye, who I am isn’t important. What’s important is that this thing is in my hands right now. Would you like to come with me? Don’t worry, I won’t hurt you. Someone just wants to see you, catch up, have a chat, and then, look to the future.”
