Chapter 470 Washing Bedding Early in the Morning

Chapter 470 Washing Bedding Early in the Morning

She didn't get up immediately, but lay quietly, feeling a strange yet familiar downward pull in her abdomen.

It turned out to be the case.

She immediately understood why her lower back had felt so heavy these past few days.

Xu Yiyi gave a soft hum, then carefully lifted the blanket and sat up.

In the dim light of day, she could see the marks on the mattress that were still damp.

She quickly threw off the covers and sat up, moving lightly and carefully so as not to wake Wu Yuan, who was sleeping soundly beside her.

She first skillfully changed her soiled pants, and then rummaged through the bottom of an old wooden box at the foot of the bed and pulled out a stack of soft, clean strips of cloth that she had prepared beforehand.

Then she carefully carried Wu Yuan to his small bed, rolled up the mattress, and took it to the well to scrub it vigorously.

"Hey! Why are you washing the blankets so early in the morning? Did Wuyuan wet the bed again?" A-Si rolled up his trousers, carried a fish basket, and opened the courtyard gate to come in.

Asi exclaimed, "Using cold water! Aren't you cold?"

I just happened to see Xu Yiyi's hands, which were red from the cold.

"Ouch! You brat!" Ah Si's brows immediately furrowed, she put the fish basket down on the ground and rushed over in a few steps, her voice urgent and angry, "Are you trying to get yourself killed! Washing clothes with cold water in this freezing weather? Have you lost your mind? You can't even afford to burn some firewood?"

She muttered curses under her breath as she turned to walk towards the kitchen: "Wait! I'll go boil some water for you. How can you wash yourself in this icy water?"

Xu Yiyi continued rubbing: "No! Hot water won't get it clean, you have to use cold water."

Asi paused, turning back to look at her in surprise.

He paused for a moment, then looked at the bedding in her hands, and in a flash, he suddenly understood something.

"Is it... you know?" she asked tentatively.

Xu Yi nodded.

A-Si was overjoyed: "Oh! You've finally arrived! I was so worried about you not coming soon."

As she spoke, she quickly took the bedding from Xu Yiyi's hands.

"I have a strong grip, I can wash it clean, you should go back and rest."

Her tone left no room for argument.

Xu Yiyi squatted down beside her and watched. In no time, the stains on the bedding were cleaned.

She was so strong that several times Xu Yiyi felt that the bedding was on the verge of being washed to pieces.

Just as A-Si was washing and tying up the bedding, San-Chuan happened to hear the noise and peeked out from the room.

"Big sister! Auntie!"

The child, still half asleep, greeted the two of them and then squatted down by the well to wash up.

"These are the mudskippers I caught last night. I also picked up some other odds and ends. You can keep them alive for a while, and they'll be ready to eat once they've expelled the mud."

As he spoke, Ah Si poured everything from the fish basket into the pond.

With a series of crackling sounds, Xu Yi glanced at the contents and saw that they were mostly shellfish; they definitely needed to be kept alive.

San Chuan had just hastily splashed cold water on his face, his hair still wet and plastered to his forehead.

He walked to the corner of the yard by himself, grabbed a handful of chaff from a broken pottery jar by the wall, and skillfully scattered it on the ground.

Several hens that had been waiting for a long time immediately flapped their wings and surrounded the food, clucking and pecking at it quickly.

Sanchuan squatted to one side, his little face intently watching the chickens fight for food, his face almost buried in the ground.

Xu Yi glanced at the eye discharge in the corner of the child's eye, and her lips twitched.

With large temperature differences between day and night, even Sanchuan, who is usually very clean, has started to wash his face carelessly.

She shook her head helplessly, fetched a basin of hot water, took down the gray towel that belonged to him from the shelf, soaked the towel in the hot water, and wrung it out until it was half dry.

He then took a steaming hot towel and walked a few steps behind Sanchuan.
