Chapter 324: Rebirth
Chapter 324: Rebirth
The Sorrow of Rebirth
Feng Jing's consciousness scattered through the endless void, drifting like fragments. His existence was no longer bound by matter or time, but precisely because of this, he fell into unprecedented isolation and confusion. In this empty world, he could not perceive any familiar existence. There were no stars, no gravity, no trace of reality to cling to. He was no longer a tangible individual, and even his self-awareness was gradually dissipating.
Feng Jing understood that he was heading towards the abyss of self-disappearance.
Yet, in this empty, desolate realm, a gentle call suddenly rang out from afar. The voice seemed to come from another world, yet it also seemed to emerge from the depths of Feng Jing's heart. It was clear and distant, carrying with it an indescribable sense of familiarity.
"Feng Jing..."
The voice was low and ethereal, as if it had merged with the entire void.
Feng Jing was shaken, his consciousness instantly returning to the endless void. He couldn't help but recall the past, when he had been fearless, his heart filled with hope and longing for the future. But now, trapped in this incomprehensible state of existence, he realized that everything was ultimately just an empty dream.
"Who are you?" Feng Jing uttered a sound, but the sound did not come out of his mouth, but echoed directly in the void. His consciousness became the carrier of this sound, spreading to every corner of the void.
"I was once a part of you," the voice responded. "You may not remember me, but I have always been in your heart."
Feng Jing's mind was in turmoil. He had once believed he had transcended all constraints, escaped that world of desire and pain, but now, this voice plunged him into endless confusion and fear. It carried a familiarity he had never felt before, yet also a chilling strangeness.
"You are..." Feng Jing's voice stopped abruptly. He realized that he could no longer define what he saw. "Who are you? Why did you appear in my consciousness?"
"Because you are no longer yourself." The voice gradually became clearer, as if revealing some truth to Feng Jing. "What you cannot escape is the fear and emptiness deep within your heart. You try to destroy everything, pursuing disorder and chaos, but you forget that the root of all this is your inner self."
Feng Jing's mind went blank. He suddenly understood the invisible bondage, the fear that no matter how hard he struggled, he couldn't escape. His consciousness began to sink, as if being pulled by that voice into a bottomless abyss.
"I have transcended all rules." Feng Jing whispered, but his voice was filled with an undisguised wavering tone. "I am no longer myself. I have... broken free from all constraints."
"You thought you were free, but you haven't truly transcended yourself." The voice chuckled. "All you've done is trapped yourself deeper in a maze. What you can't escape is not just the limitations of time and space, but even the unspeakable loneliness and fear deep within you."
Feng Jing's heart began to beat violently, as if something had suddenly broken deep within him. His consciousness began to crumble, all reason and logic disintegrating at that moment. Endless emptiness expanded before his eyes, becoming increasingly blurry, as if the entire universe was collapsing in an indescribable direction.
He once believed he could destroy all rules and break all constraints, but now he realized that all his struggles and resistance ultimately could not escape the inescapable fact: he could not surpass himself. He could not escape the deep loneliness, nor could he eliminate the fear that had always entangled him deep in his heart.
"Do you want to be reborn?" the voice sounded again, challenging him. "If you truly want to be reborn, you must give up everything you believe in, and your self-righteous notion of transcendence. Only by starting from scratch can you achieve true freedom."
Feng Jing's thoughts began to return, his consciousness gradually becoming clearer. He felt a strong attraction, as if the entire void was closing in on him, all the fragments, all the consciousness, began to merge back together. The force was powerful and relentless, and Feng Jing's consciousness could not resist it, could not break free.
"Give up everything?" Feng Jing repeated the question in a low voice. He felt that every part of his body and mind was bound by an irresistible force, as if no matter how hard he struggled, he could not break free from that deep feeling of powerlessness.
He thought of the goal he had once pursued - to transcend all boundaries, transcend all constraints, and become an omnipotent being. However, now, all of this seemed so pale and powerless.
"If I give up everything, can I truly be free?" Feng Jing felt a sense of desire in his heart.
"You have no choice," the voice said. "You can't escape because you never really had a choice. Every decision you make is driven by your deep fear and loneliness. You are just repeating an unbreakable cycle."
Feng Jing's consciousness fell silent again. It was as if he was no longer the man once filled with ambition and desire. He felt an indescribable lightness, as if all burdens and shackles had been lifted from him. However, this lightness did not bring relief, but instead left him feeling even more empty and lost.
He realized that the freedom he pursued was not a transcendent existence, but a complete letting go, a rebirth from scratch. No matter how hard he tried, no matter how he resisted, the final result was only one: letting go of everything he had, could truly gain freedom.
Feng Jing's thoughts gradually became clearer, and he felt that he was no longer just "Feng Jing". He was no longer the individual bound by desire and fear, but a soul undergoing rebirth.
"I'm ready." Feng Jing muttered to himself.
