Chapter 203: Like Mom or Dad?
Chapter 203: Like Mom or Dad?
“Does it eat chicken?”
"Don't eat."
"So corn?"
"Don't eat."
"Celery? Or some fruit?"
"No...Mary, please, just leave it alone."
Lilith covered her head, feeling very troubled when she saw Mary insisting on cooking different kinds of meals for the gargoyle.
"How can a pet not need to eat? Since you are its owner, you must take responsibility and not let it go hungry." Mary stood up and insisted. "I will buy some river fish tomorrow and try."
The gargoyle sat obediently in the yard, lowered his head and looked carefully at the plate that Mary pushed over, but did not move.
"Maybe it's shy. Let's go in and let it eat by itself." Mary asserted, pulling the tearful Lilith into the house.
After the sumptuous dinner, Lilith went back to her room as usual. When Mary finished her work and went to Lilith's room with a dry towel, the little girl was just like when she was a child, hanging her hair upside down on the edge of the bed and reading with her legs crossed.
Mary scooped up the blonde hair skillfully, only to find it was exceptionally dry.
"Just a little magic, Mary!" Lilith covered her mouth with the book and laughed, winking at Mary proudly. She was no longer the squeamish girl who needed Mary to dry her hair.
However, Mary couldn't laugh. She touched Lilith's golden hair blankly, with a look of melancholy in her eyes. "Yes, you have grown up..."
Lilith was keenly aware of Mary's thoughts. She crawled upwards like a worm and forced her upper body into Mary's arms. "But you can also help me comb my hair. I really don't like to take care of it."
Mary was swayed by her strength and said with a smile, "I didn't bring a comb..."
"I have it, I have it!" Lilith took out the wooden comb from the ring and handed it over. Then she squinted her eyes and enjoyed this comfortable and intimate time.
"You've been pretty busy these past few days, haven't you? Have those stubborn old guys in the winery caused any trouble?"
As soon as Lilith returned home, she took Peggy and Nancy straight to the winery and announced a series of reform plans. Mary hadn't seen her except for dinner these days.
"When I was taking out the distiller, I 'accidentally' brought out my sword, and 'accidentally' used magic to throw it away, and then they became quiet." The wooden comb combed her head like a massage, and Lilith felt drowsy.
Mary smiled, but there was still worry in her eyes.
"Lilith...did something bad happen to you?" Mary asked softly. Even though the child said that she was now a registered junior magician, she still couldn't feel at ease.
In his previous letter, he had vowed that he would be very busy during the holidays and might not have time to come back. But he suddenly showed up during this holiday, giving Mary a big surprise. But after the surprise, she couldn't help wondering if she had suffered any injustice outside.
"...I just miss home." Lilith's closed eyelids kept shaking. Mary looked at her and sighed quietly in her heart.
"Mary, do I look like my mother?" Lilith asked suddenly with her eyes closed.
"...Of course." Mary's mind was full of thoughts. Could it be that someone was bullying her because she had no mother?
"That's good." Lilith's shoulders relaxed. The next goal was -
"But you inherited your hair color and eyes from that viscount," Mary continued.
Lilith's shoulders tightened again. What's going on?
"I don't think I look like him. There are so many blond people in the world..." Lilith muttered.
Mary found this a little strange, but considering the awkward relationship between Lilith and her father, she didn't say anything.
"Mary, did your mother have a first love? A fleeting romance counts." Taking advantage of the harmonious atmosphere, Lilith asked boldly.
"Lilith!? What are you talking about!" Mary gasped, "The lady is a devout believer in light! We won't do that before we get married, we won't--"
Mary's eyes were wandering, and she felt that it was too early to say these words to Lilith.
"Okay, okay. I just want to know more about her. You described her so well, of course I would wonder if she has many suitors." Lilith made an excuse.
"Of course, she is the Shelley's daughter!" Mary spoke of her young lady with pride.
"Even your teacher Kenny, back then-"
"Kenny?!" Lilith sat up suddenly, almost hitting Mary's chin, and recalled in her mind the elementary school teacher who was always gentle, tolerant and kind to her.
Teacher Kenny is still unmarried, and he also has blonde hair.
……
"It's been a long time, Lilith." Teacher Kenny smiled at her gently as always, with soft light in his blue eyes. "You've grown a lot taller--"
Teacher Kenny lived near the school, and Lilith came to find him at dawn.
"Well, I, I've been exercising." Lilith stuttered nervously as she spoke.
"That's great. Having a healthy body is more important than anything else." Teacher Kenny's eyes were a little melancholy, as if he was thinking of someone else through her.
Lilith didn't understand before, but now she knows that he is thinking about her mother.
Could it be him? Was he a human? Lilith was so nervous that she was at a loss for words.
"Why are you nervous? I won't check your homework now." This familiar nervous look made Kenny laugh and cry. He wondered if he had put too much pressure on the child in the past, which led to her still being a little afraid of him.
So he simply turned around and headed towards the campus. "What do you want from me so early in the morning? Did Mary ask you to ask about Jenny's homework?"
Lilith looked at the back, took a deep breath, and suddenly opened her mouth, "Father?"
Teacher Kenny turned around in confusion and looked over her head, "Is the Viscount here?"
"My father said - knowledge is power." Lilith said it forcefully. As long as Mr. Kenny is not the best actor, it seems that she guessed wrong...
"To be honest, I've made a little money in the past two years, so I hope to invest in building a middle school in Shelley Town." Lilith managed to change the subject.
"You said before that they had no choice. Maybe after they continue to study, things will be different. So I hope you can help me."
"Lilith..." Teacher Kenny was very surprised. He didn't expect the girl to change so quickly. "You...you are as kind as your mother." Kenny said sincerely.
"Teacher, do you like my mother?" Lilith asked courageously.
Teacher Kenny was stunned.
"You have always taken special care of me since I was a child, teacher. For a long time when I was a child, I thought my father was like you..." Lilith decided to add fuel to the fire and play the emotional card.
"Lilith..." Teacher Kenny was so moved by Lilith that he was in tears.
"I also hope to be your father. If that's the case, your mother might not... When you were first brought back by Mary, I also told your grandfather that I hope to be your godfather, but you are a noble, I am not qualified..."
Teacher Kenny's voice began to develop a strong nasal tone.
Lilith stared at him intently, trying to find some flaws in his face.
But all I saw were the sparkling bubbles of snot.
Well, not really. Excuse me!
