Chapter 727 Standing Up
Chapter 727 Standing Up
The Third Hokage spoke, slowly rising to his feet. He walked to the White Fang Blade. Looking at the ninja sword embedded in the tombstone, his eyes were filled with sorrow.
He turned to look at Zhang Hai, his tone pleading, "Zhang Hai, if you harbor hatred, then unleash it on me! As the Hokage, I am willing to bear it all!"
After saying that, the Third Hokage walked towards the White Fang Blade without any warning. His back looked unusually old and lonely in the darkness.
Looking at the Third Hokage's unguarded back, Zhang Hai felt a strong shock. He hadn't expected the Third Hokage to do something like that.
He sensed the sorrow and self-reproach emanating from the Third Hokage, and his anger and hatred gradually dissipated. He knew that the Third Hokage was genuinely suffering for his teacher, Sakumo Hatake.
Just as the Third Hokage was about to reach the White Fang Blade, a dazzling light suddenly erupted from Zhang Hai! The dark soul power was instantly dispelled by the light, illuminating the entire cemetery.
The Third Hokage turned his head sharply and saw Zhang Hai standing in the light. A look of shock appeared on his face.
He saw Zhang Hai's scarlet Sharingan! Those Sharingan were different from others; the original three tomoe had disappeared, replaced by blade-shaped pupils that emitted a deep and mysterious light.
"This...this is the Mangekyou Sharingan?!" The Third Hokage's voice was filled with shock and disbelief. He had never imagined that Zhang Hai would awaken the Mangekyou Sharingan!
Looking at Zhang Hai's brand-new Sharingan, a strong sense of unease welled up within him. The Mangekyou Sharingan is the most powerful and also the most dangerous eye technique of the Uchiha clan. It possesses world-destroying power, but it also comes with enormous side effects. Moreover, given the Uchiha clan's extreme nature, possessing this power could potentially bring a tremendous crisis to Konoha.
Zhang Hai ignored the Third Hokage's shock; he simply and slowly withdrew his Sharingan. His eyes regained their clarity, but now held a deeper depth.
He walked to the White Fang Blade and slowly sheathed the ninja sword. Then, he turned to look at the Third Hokage.
The Third Hokage looked at Zhang Hai's calm eyes and couldn't help but feel a little puzzled. He didn't know what Zhang Hai was planning to do.
Zhang Hai reached out and took the dusty Hokage sleeve from the Third Hokage. He looked at the familiar Hokage symbol on the sleeve, a complex emotion flashing in his eyes.
"Lord Hokage, thank you for your advice." Zhang Hai's voice was hoarse and weak, but full of determination. "I will not be swallowed by darkness. I will not let my teacher's sacrifice be in vain."
He paused, a resolute glint in his eyes. "This world is sick. I will change this world."
After saying that, Zhang Hai burned the Hokage Sleeve in his hand without hesitation!
"boom!"
The flames instantly engulfed the Fire Shadow Sleeve, turning it to ashes.
As the Hokage's sleeve burned away, all the dark power surrounding the graveyard vanished instantly. The graveyard returned to its usual tranquility, but a faint sadness still lingered in the air.
Just as the darkness dissipated, Tsunade and Minato rushed into the Four Purple Flame Formation. They breathed a sigh of relief when they saw Zhang Hai standing unharmed before the tombstone.
However, when they saw Zhang Hai's hair, both of them were so shocked that they were speechless.
Zhang Hai's hair turned snow-white overnight! His once jet-black and shiny hair was now dazzlingly white, like winter frost and snow.
"Zhang Hai! Your...your hair!" Tsunade exclaimed, her face showing an expression of disbelief.
Zhang Hai ignored Tsunade and Minato's shock; he simply stood quietly in front of the tombstone, his eyes filled with determination.
Tsunade rushed to Zhang Hai's side, reaching out to gently touch his snow-white hair. Her eyes were filled with worry and heartache.
She carefully examined Zhang Hai's body and found that although he appeared to have recovered, he had suffered severe internal injuries. His chakra was almost depleted, and his meridians were also somewhat damaged.
"You fool! How could you be so badly injured!" Tsunade said with heartache, tears welling in her eyes. She knew that Zhang Hai must have fought with all his might in the battle against the Seven Ninja Swordsmen of the Mist.
The Third Hokage breathed a sigh of relief as he watched Zhang Hai return to normal, but a lingering unease remained deep within him. He knew that Zhang Hai's Mangekyou Sharingan and his powerful dark soul energy were ticking time bombs. He had to be constantly vigilant and prevent Zhang Hai from spiraling out of control.
Zhang Hai felt a surge of warmth in his heart as he sensed Tsunade's genuine care. He knew that Tsunade truly cared about him.
"Lady Tsunade, I'm alright," Zhang Hai said softly. "I'm fine now."
He turned to look at the Third Hokage, his eyes flashing with determination.
"Lord Hokage, I have a request," Zhang Hai said in a deep voice.
The Third Hokage looked at Zhang Hai, a hint of doubt in his eyes. "What request?"
"I hope you can arrange for someone to spar with me in swordsmanship," Zhang Hai said firmly. "I need to become stronger! I need to master this power! I need to change this world!"
Upon hearing this, the Third Hokage's expression turned solemn. He knew that Zhang Hai wanted to gain control of the power within him through battle.
Looking into Zhang Hai's determined eyes, he was filled with emotion. He knew that Zhang Hai was no longer the child who needed protection. He had grown into a capable ninja who could stand on his own.
“Then, Hokage,” Zhang Hai said calmly, “I hope you can arrange for someone who has fully mastered the Konoha-ryu swordsmanship to spar with me.”
The Third Hokage was slightly taken aback upon hearing this. He knew that Zhang Hai wanted to master the power of the Mangekyou Sharingan more quickly and push his swordsmanship to its limit by sparring with true sword masters.
"Konoha-ryu swordsmanship..." Minato, hearing Zhang Hai's request, immediately volunteered, "Zhang Hai, why don't I spar with you? Although I'm not a swordsmanship ninja, I can..."
However, before Minato could finish speaking, Zhang Hai interrupted him.
“Senior Minato, you don’t know swordsmanship.” Zhang Hai said bluntly, “What I need is a true master swordsman, someone who can bring the Konoha-ryu swordsmanship to its fullest potential.”
Upon hearing this, Minato's face showed an embarrassed expression. He knew that what Zhang Hai said was true; his swordsmanship was indeed not good.
Looking at Zhang Hai's determined gaze, the Third Hokage felt a pang of conflict. He knew that, apart from Hatake Sakumo, the strongest ninja in Konoha-ryu swordsmanship were only a few top-tier members of the Anbu.
