Chapter 930 Poison
Chapter 930 Poison
"Damn it! What kind of poison is this?!" a ninja from Iwagakure exclaimed in terror, his face pale and his eyes filled with despair.
"Quick, use gas masks!" another Sunagakure ninja shouted, but his voice was drowned out by violent coughing. Even if they tried their best to protect themselves, the poison gas was spreading too quickly to be effectively resisted.
"How could this be?" Rasa stood at a distance, his eyes wide with disbelief. He watched as those once-mighty ninjas gradually sank into an abyss of helplessness. Poisonous creatures swept in like a tidal wave, mercilessly devouring their lives.
Zhang Hai's laughter came through the earpiece. He swung his knife unhurriedly, savoring the thrill of the blade rubbing against the air. Each swing was accompanied by the fall of a ninja. The rapid evolution of the poisonous creatures made the battle irreversible. Originally, he had designed the poisonous creatures as merely auxiliary attack tools, but through his collaboration with Scorpion, their adaptability and aggression had reached unprecedented levels.
"This battle will change the entire landscape of the ninja world," Zhang Hai said in a low voice, his eyes devoid of any emotion. He glanced at Tobirama Senju beside him, a hint of provocation in his eyes. "What do you say, Tobirama Senju?"
Tobirama Senju stood beside Zhang Hai, his hands clenched tightly, his gaze fixed on the battlefield. His expression was unusually grave. "Do you know the extent of the disaster these poisonous creatures will bring?" he finally spoke, his voice filled with pain and disgust. "You may see the victory before your eyes, but I only see the future destruction of the ninja world."
Zhang Hai did not respond; his gaze remained calm and indifferent. "There is no such thing as 'good' in war. Your so-called future of the ninja world is nothing but an illusion that forces the weak to submit to the strong. Only the strong have the right to determine the course of the world."
Tobirama Senju took a deep breath, seemingly struggling to suppress the anger and anxiety within him. "You're right, the strong can indeed change the world, but that shouldn't be achieved by destroying everything. In destroying the old world, you're also destroying any possibility of change. Don't you understand, Zhang Hai? War only brings pain and despair. A true strongman doesn't fight only for himself!"
"Is that how you see me?" Zhang Hai chuckled. "You're right, I am an 'evil brat,' a villain who doesn't understand love and responsibility. But at least I did what I wanted to do. And you, Tobirama Senju? What are you still holding on to? Your so-called ideals, your so-called ninja responsibilities, have long been torn apart by blood and tears in this war."
A complex emotion flashed in Tobirama Senju's eyes as he looked at the battlefield, a look of resentment gradually appearing on his face. "We all have our own stance, Zhang Hai. You chose destruction, I chose protection. You chose to exchange pain for the future, while I choose to maintain everything with love and responsibility."
Zhang Hai glanced at him, a cold smile playing on his lips. "Let's see who lives longer, Tobirama." He said, turning and continuing towards the battlefield, his figure shrouded in the purple poisonous mist. The battle was not over yet, and the spread of the poison had not stopped.
Just then, the allied commanders finally began to realize the gravity of the situation. They hurriedly ordered the ninjas to evacuate and quickly distributed gas masks to each ninja, but it was clearly too late. The area covered by the poison gas had far exceeded their expectations, and what they had initially relied on as a numerical advantage had gradually become a burden. Every second, the ninjas' bodies were being assaulted by the poison gas and toxins.
"Retreat! Everyone retreat!" a ninja from Iwagakure shouted, but his words were interrupted by a violent cough and he eventually disappeared into the chaos.
"Quickly, the guards, lead the team!" The other commanders hurriedly issued orders, but their voices could no longer reach the distant troops. The venomous creatures evolved too quickly, giving them no time to react.
"Damn it! How can these poisonous creatures evolve so fast?!" A ninja watched helplessly as his comrade was devoured by the poisonous insects, his desperate eyes filled with uncontrollable fear.
“There’s no way out…” another ninja murmured, his consciousness fading until he collapsed to the ground.
Zhang Hai stood at a distance, coldly observing everything. The spread of the poison, the chaos within the allied forces, and the gradually crumbling battle formation intensified his sense of victory. Every instance of the enemy's suffering strengthened his belief—this world can only be ruled by the strong.
"Tobirama..." he murmured, "You're right, the strong are indeed the only ones capable of changing the world. You hope to heal with love, but I'll destroy with poison. Who will ultimately prevail?"
Zhang Hai stood on the shattered battlefield, surveying his surroundings. Purple poison gas spread through the air, silently devouring every inch of air and every living being. The allied ninjas crumbled under the threat of the gas, fear radiating from every face. Their former confidence was gone, replaced only by the shadow of death.
He slowly raised his head, gazing at Tobirama Senju in the distance. The latter stood amidst ruins, his gaze dim, his eyes filled with indescribable, complex emotions. Zhang Hai could sense his inner struggle, even hear the voice in his heart, but these things no longer mattered to him.
"You've really disappointed me," Zhang Hai said in a low voice, a hint of contempt and coldness in his tone. He didn't look at Tobirama Senju, but continued to watch the battlefield. His heart was no longer filled with much emotion. In the past, he might have felt lonely and confused at times, but now, he was no longer the boy who was once bound by emotions and ideals.
Tobirama Senju's heart was filled with pain and resentment. He gripped the hilt of his sword tightly, his gaze resolute as he looked at Zhang Hai. "You don't understand. You think that destroying everything will bring about new life, but you've forgotten that love is the driving force behind everything. You will eventually understand that destruction cannot bring about true change; only protection can create the future."
Zhang Hai sneered, "Protect? You're just like those foolish ninjas, clinging to unattainable ideals. Reality has already told you that everything is just a cycle of life and death. You want to protect, you want to save, but all you can do is watch helplessly as these weaklings are destroyed. Don't you understand? The death of the weak is the only truth in this world." He paused, his tone cold, "And the strong are the only ones who can change their fate."
