Chapter 2111 Clever Use of Poison
Chapter 2111 Clever Use of Poison
After entering the room, Yan Ruyu couldn't see any changes in the room compared to before.
The furnishings are simple and elegant. A soft couch is placed by the window, next to which is an eight-immortal table with several plates of snacks and a pot of tea.
The floor was swept clean, the tables and chairs were wiped spotless, and there was no odor in the air.
“The food has just been cleared away,” Su Shengsheng said, pointing to the empty dining table with a frustrated tone. “If I had known it would turn out like this, I should have let them stay a little longer.”
Yan Ruyu didn't say anything and walked to the octagonal table.
The snacks on the table were several delicate pastries that looked quite fresh, and the tea was still steaming slightly.
She picked up a pastry and then a cup of tea; no alarms were triggered in the room.
She frowned slightly: "Snacks and tea are no problem."
Su Shengsheng and Su Jingzhuo exchanged a glance, both showing expressions of confusion.
Su Jingzhuo said, "Ever since you said last time that things like incense might affect the efficacy of medicine, I haven't used any of those in this courtyard."
Yan Ruyu nodded, confirming that this was indeed the case.
Su Jingzhuo had just recovered from poisoning and was very sensitive. Not to mention that aromatherapy products might contain irritating ingredients, there was also a high possibility that they might be tampered with. Therefore, she specifically instructed her not to use them.
She looked around the room; there were no sachets hanging on the curtains, and the air was indeed filled only with the natural scents of books and wood.
Where did the poison come from?
Yan Ruyu frowned, lost in thought.
Could the problem really be related to diet?
She strolled slowly, her gaze sweeping across the room, from the tables and chairs to the bookshelves, then to the soft couch by the window, and finally landing on the bed in the inner room.
It was a large, carved bed, covered with a light-colored quilt, the corners of which were neat and clean.
Yan Ruyu paused, then walked straight towards the bed.
"Doctor, is there something wrong with this blanket?" Su Shengsheng couldn't help but ask, his gaze falling on the thin blanket, but he couldn't see anything unusual.
This quilt was just changed a few days ago. It's made of the finest silk, soft and breathable, and was specially prepared for Su Jingzhuo to help him recover.
Yan Ruyu did not answer immediately, but reached out and gently stroked the surface of the thin blanket with her fingertips.
Silk feels smooth and delicate to the touch, and appears to be completely normal.
But soon, a space warning was issued.
poisonous!
She lifted the corner of the quilt and carefully examined the connection between the quilt cover and the quilt insert, her gaze focused and sharp.
Su Jingzhuo stood to the side, his face still pale, his hands unconsciously clenched together, his eyes fixed on Yan Ruyu's movements, and his breathing slightly rapid.
"When was this quilt changed?" Yan Ruyu suddenly asked, her fingertip lingering on a stitch at the corner of the quilt.
Su Jingzhuo paused for a moment, then replied, "About three days ago, the old women in the manor said that the weather was getting warmer, so they changed to this thin quilt."
"What about the old blankets?" Yan Ruyu pressed.
"It was probably taken away for washing." Su Jingzhuo's tone was uncertain as he turned to look at Su Shengsheng. "I don't know much about these trivial matters."
Su Shengsheng immediately replied, "I'll go ask the manager!" and started to walk out.
"No need," Yan Ruyu called out to him, her gaze still fixed on the thin blanket. "There's something wrong with this blanket."
Su Shengsheng and Su Jingzhuo were both startled.
Su Shengsheng walked quickly to the bedside and carefully examined the thin blanket: "This blanket looks fine, not torn or dirty, what's the problem?"
Yan Ruyu stretched out her finger and gently rubbed the stitches at the corner of the quilt, then raised her hand to show them.
There was a tiny, almost transparent powder on her fingertip, almost imperceptible unless you looked closely.
"What is this?" Su Shengsheng looked closer before she could see clearly, and her face instantly turned ugly.
“It’s a slow-acting poison.” Yan Ruyu’s tone was calm, but it made the hearts of the two people present sink. “This poison powder is colorless and odorless, with extremely strong adhesion. It can be hidden in the needle and will not take effect under normal circumstances.”
However, once it comes into contact with human skin, it will slowly seep into the body, and over time, it will cause poisoning.
"What a clever idea."
Su Jingzhuo swayed slightly, his eyes filled with disbelief.
Yan Ruyu gently flicked the powder off her fingertips and looked at Su Jingzhuo: "Young Master Su, think carefully again. Before and after changing the quilt, did anyone special come to your courtyard? Or did anything unusual happen?"
Su Jingzhuo frowned, thought carefully for a moment, and shook his head: "On the day the quilt was changed, it was the old woman who was usually in charge who came in to change it. No one else came."
Su Shengsheng's eyes flashed sharply: "There must be a traitor within the manor!"
She grew angrier the more she thought about it, and gritted her teeth, saying, "I'll go and find the old woman who changed the quilt that day, and interrogate her properly!"
"Wait," Yan Ruyu called out to her again, "Going to them now might not yield any results. Since they dared to do this, they must have made thorough preparations and won't admit it easily."
"What should we do then?" Su Shengsheng asked anxiously, "It's truly impossible to guard against!"
She turned to look at Su Jingzhuo, her eyes filled with a hint of inquiry: "Young Master Su, think carefully, have you ever suspected anyone?"
Su Jingzhuo lowered his eyes, his long eyelashes casting a shadow under his eyelids.
He remained silent for a long time before slowly speaking, his voice slightly hoarse: "I...I really can't think of anything. I've always treated people well and haven't made any deep grudges against anyone."
Yan Ruyu said calmly, "The most urgent matter is the health of the young master. This poison takes effect slowly, and the poison in young master Su's body is not yet deep. I will prepare medicine to detoxify him first."
She walked to the table, picked up a pen and wrote down a prescription, and left two packets of fruit tea for Su Jingzhuo to drink with his medicine.
"I'll take this quilt with me and examine it carefully; perhaps I can find more clues."
Su Shengsheng nodded quickly: "Okay, young doctor, please take it and check it! If you need any help, just let me know!"
Yan Ruyu, holding the quilt, turned to look at Su Jingzhuo: "For the next few days, you will move to another courtyard. This room will be sealed off for now, and no one should be allowed to enter."
Regarding food, I will have it prepared anew. Do not touch any food or drink other than what I personally deliver.
"I understand, thank you very much, Doctor Yan." Su Jingzhuo bowed and thanked him, his tone full of gratitude.
Yan Ruyu nodded slightly, then turned and walked outside.
Su Shengsheng quickly followed, still muttering that he needed to arrange for people to seal off the courtyard.
Watching their departing figures, Su Jingzhuo stood there, his face still pale.
He raised his hand to his chest, his eyes filled with a complex and unreadable expression, and a faint smile appeared on his lips, a smile that was hard to decipher as whether it was bitter or something else entirely.
The morning light shone on him through the window, but it couldn't dispel the gloom in his eyes.
Yan Ruyu returned to her residence, where Huo Changhe was also there.
Why are you carrying a blanket?
After Yan Ruyu recounted what had happened, Huo Changhe's face darkened.
"Poisoned again?"
