Chapter 460: The End
Chapter 460: The End
In truth, Su Qing did not bring up anything else with Zhou Yuwen. Surprisingly, she did not even throw a fit or argue. Her entire demeanor was incredibly calm.
"Could you tell me how much money you have right now?" she asked.
Zhou Yuwen sat on the sofa. The coffee table was completely covered with various beers and foreign liquors. Many of the bottles had only been opened and tasted a few times.
'These women are really wasteful,'
Zhou Yuwen muttered inwardly. After silently complaining, he found a relatively clean octagonal glass.
He poured half a glass of foreign liquor, thought for a moment, and replied, "One hundred and twenty million."
Even though she had guessed that Zhou Yuwen was wealthy, Su Qing was still somewhat shocked when he actually stated the amount. In fact, she was not the only one surprised. Lu Lin, who had not gotten drunk over there, and Shen Yu, who had groggily awakened, were also stunned.
'It does not feel right to fake sleep and eavesdrop like this,' Shen Yu thought.
However, the massive sum of money Zhou Yuwen revealed truly shocked the girls, especially Shen Yu.
A nineteen-year-old boy had already made more money than her parents had earned in a lifetime of hard work.
'No wonder so many girls like him,' she mused.
Currently pinned under Zheng Yanyan, Shen Yu secretly opened her eyes and stole a glance at Zhou Yuwen sitting there. She saw him holding his glass, drinking with an impassive expression.
Zhou Yuwen understood Su Qing's intentions. She probably truly wanted to make a clean break and ask for a share of his money. Honestly, everything had already been settled during their previous life's divorce, but if Su Qing still wanted to split assets right now, he did not mind.
In truth, Zhou Yuwen could acquire far more wealth than he currently had at any time. Whether for himself or Su Qing, money was likely just a number now.
Therefore, he did not hide anything.
Truth be told, when Baidu wired sixty million into his account, Zhou Yuwen actually felt a bit like a lonely master without a rival. It was an entirely surreal feeling.
Sixty million had effortlessly landed in his bank account just like that.
No one could possibly understand how he felt.
Even if Zhou Yuwen wanted to show off or pour his heart out, he could not find anyone to talk to.
So, at this moment, when Su Qing asked him this question, He held nothing back. He even detailed exactly how he had earned this fortune.
He explained everything, starting from the phone card business, to writing novels, and then consistently engaging in investment and financial management, as well as stock trading. His profits had multiplied by three hundred percent in just one year.
That was how he had accumulated the sixty million.
This amount covered his purchases of cars and properties.
At Zhonghai Garden, he initially bought three apartments and later bought three more, totaling six properties there.
He also owned a luxury single-floor apartment at Lan Ting.
As for vehicles, he had two: an M4 and a BMW X7.
Not counting the Mercedes-Benz cars he had bought for the girls, this constituted all of Zhou Yuwen's assets.
After saying all this, he felt a wave of emotion. Taking a sip of his whiskey, he offered, "This is what I have earned over the past year. If you want it, I can split it with you half and half."
His sheer generosity left both Shen Yu and Lu Lin completely stunned.
But Su Qing simply replied, "You earned all of this yourself."
"I don't want it."
"Zhou Yuwen, you know that is not what I want."
"If we could start all over again, I would rather go back to the past. Just the two of us living a plain and simple life, sharing one home, three meals a day, and the four changing seasons." As Su Qing spoke, a nostalgic smile tugged at the corners of her mouth, as if lost in memories.
Zhou Yuwen shook his head. "We can't go back. Actually, you should have known long ago that we can never return to those days."
"Yes, we can't go back."
Both of them were rather cautious. Since there were other people in the room, they did not bring up anything unnecessary.
Zhou Yuwen asked Su Qing what her plans were moving forward.
She told him that she still wanted to go abroad and see the world.
After all, she was only nineteen.
Her life was full of infinite possibilities.
"Could you sponsor me to study abroad?" Su Qing asked with a smile.
He nodded and replied, "That is what I should do anyway."
"Thank you," Su Qing said softly.
Zhou Yuwen fell silent at that.
Originally, Su Qing thought she would have so much to say to him. Yet, unexpectedly, they finished their entire conversation in just a short while.
What followed was pure silence.
Two years of marriage, three years of entanglement.
To think their final conversation would end in such quietude.
Earlier, Zhou Yuwen had sent a message to Tao Tian.
She had already arrived and proactively gave him a phone call.
He connected the call and told her the room number.
Soon enough, Tao Tian made her way over.
Except for Zhou Yuwen and Su Qing, everyone else in the room was sprawled out, dead to the world.
Surveying the scene, Tao Tian found it rather amusing. "How did they end up drinking themselves into this state?" she asked.
No one answered her.
Su Qing looked at Zhou Yuwen with an indescribable expression. It was as if she wanted to say something but held back, or perhaps she simply had nothing left to say.
"I am heading back to school first," she announced.
By the time she finished speaking, she had already reached the door.
"Will you be okay going by yourself? Don't joke—" Zhou Yuwen started to say.
Before he could finish his sentence, Su Qing suddenly lunged forward, throwing herself into his arms.
Her slender arms wrapped tightly around his waist, while her black jeans perfectly accentuated the perky curves of her rear.
She was much more petite than Zhou Yuwen, and her soft hair brushed against his cheek.
Her entire body carried a delightful, fragrant scent.
It was a delicate figure he used to be so intimately familiar with, yet at this moment, it felt profoundly strange.
Zhou Yuwen savored this brief moment of tenderness. He had just wanted to give her a proper, comforting hug, but Su Qing pulled away on her own initiative.
Smiling at him, she requested, "Let me go. I want to spend the night alone."
"Should I have Tao Tian drop you off?" he offered.
Su Qing shook her head and walked out without another word.
A moment of silence settled over the room. Tao Tian seemed to sense the subtle atmosphere, but she ultimately could not resist asking, "What is wrong with her?"
Zhou Yuwen shook his head and stayed silent.
Earlier, everyone assumed Su Qing had drunk a lot. In reality, she had hardly consumed anything. Her mind was incredibly clear right now. She hailed a taxi and arrived at the school within five minutes.
Then, she took a shower and changed into a set of pajamas.
She climbed into bed.
She did not look at her phone.
Instead, she simply stared blankly at the ceiling.
The dormitory was pitch black.
Occasionally, the noise from the neighboring dorms drifted in.
It had been a long time since things had felt this peaceful.
The previous night, Su Qing had not slept well at all; her eyes had been wet with tears.
But tonight, simply closing her eyes sent her drifting off into sleep. In her dreams, she hazily saw her previous life's wedding with Zhou Yuwen.
It was a grand and magnificent wedding.
His family was highly respected in their small county town, and they had provided a bride price of three hundred thousand yuan.
On that day, she wore a gorgeous wedding dress with an incredibly long train. The pure white gown was adorned entirely with crystal-clear crushed diamonds.
The dress had an off-the-shoulder design, leaving her delicate shoulders exposed. The high heels hidden beneath the fabric made her look exceptionally tall and elegant.
Zhou Yuwen made his appearance in a sharp suit.
Together, they stood before a crowd of family and friends to bear witness.
The master of ceremonies had asked, "Miss Su Qing, do you take Mr. Zhou Yuwen to be your lawfully wedded husband, for the rest of your life, in sickness and in health, in poverty and in wealth, never to leave or forsake him?"
Her eyes brimming with pure joy, she had replied, "I do."
Everything in the dream felt as vivid as reality.
Ultimately, hot tears rolled down her sleeping face.
And so, the night finally came to an end.
As for Zhou Yuwen, this night was not exactly a pleasant one either.
With Tao Tian's help, the three girls were safely settled into the luxury apartment.
Shen Yu and Lu Lin were actually already awake. However, since they had overheard Zhou Yuwen and Su Qing's conversation, they felt it would be awkward to get up, so they continued faking sleep.
Zheng Yanyan remained in a semi-conscious state, still babbling about drinking more booze.
It was a good thing Tao Tian was there to lend a hand; otherwise, Zhou Yuwen alone probably would not have been able to carry them all.
All three girls were lifted onto the massive bed.
When he picked Shen Yu up, he could not help but notice that her body felt somewhat stiff, as if she were tense.
He stared at her for a brief moment.
Under the glow of the lights, even with her eyes shut, Shen Yu clearly sensed his intense gaze on her. Panic gripped her heart; if she were caught pretending to sleep, it would feel like she was doing something terribly wrong.
Looking at Shen Yu's slightly parted lips and steady breathing, Zhou Yuwen seemed to catch onto something, but in the end, he kept quiet.
He set her down gently and walked out of the room on his own.
Tao Tian proved to be highly reliable. She changed the girls' clothes and wiped their faces with hot towels.
By the time she stepped out, she spotted Zhou Yuwen sitting on the balcony, smoking.
From what she remembered, he rarely ever smoked.
Yet, leaning there against the railing, gazing out at the night cityscape while expertly flicking off the ash with his index finger, he looked absolutely mesmerizing.
Tao Tian quietly approached him. Her glossy, lip-balmed mouth leaned close to his ear as she whispered softly, "Is something bothering you?"
Pulling his gaze back from the distance, he watched her blink playfully at him. A soft chuckle escaped his lips. "Is everyone settled in?"
"Mhm."
Since she had been called over on such short notice, she had not carefully picked out an outfit. She wore only a simple T-shirt paired with a thin jacket, along with white denim capri pants that exposed her slender ankles.
However, thanks to her incredible figure, the tight fit of the T-shirt naturally hiked it up into a makeshift crop top.
Today, she had tied her hair into a braid, giving her the gentle, comforting aura of a caring older sister. The braid draped elegantly over one shoulder. She could sense that something was weighing heavily on his mind.
But if he did not want to talk about it, she would not force him. The best she could do was wrap her arms around him, snuggling closely against his chest like a dainty little girl.
Zhou Yuwen pulled her close, her generous bosom pressing softly against his chest.
Tao Tian asked him, "What happened today? Why did they drink so much?"
"It is nothing."
For some inexplicable reason, holding her truly put him at ease. "Sweetie," he called out softly.
Surprised, Tao Tian realized he had never used that affectionate nickname for her before.
But it felt incredibly nice.
He confessed that he had just realized how hypocritical he truly was.
She asked him why he would say such a thing.
Zhou Yuwen said, "It is just that I used to tell all of you that as long as you were willing to stay with me, I would treat you well. And if you ever wanted to give up, I could let you go at any time."
"But then I realized that wasn't true."
Tao Tian stared intently at him with her large, beautiful eyes.
Her bright, watery eyes blinked repeatedly, looking as expressive as if they could speak.
Zhou Yuwen continued, "I thought about it just now. I realized that no matter which of you it is, if any of you ever truly decided to leave me one day, I wouldn't actually be able to bear it."
Hearing this, Tao Tian could not help but smile. "Well, of course," she replied.
"After being together for so long, how could you ever bear to let us go?"
He nodded. She was right.
"Still, hearing you admit that makes me really happy," she beamed.
Zhou Yuwen looked at her in confusion.
Tao Tian elaborated, "When you used to say that old line, honestly, it hurt a little. It made me feel like it didn't matter if I stayed or left, as if you had absolutely no emotional attachment to me."
"So when you opened up to me today, it made me so incredibly glad. Because now, at the very least, I know you hold a place for me in your heart," she said with a bright smile.
Her radiant smile at that moment carried a deeply healing quality.
Hearing her heartfelt words, he smiled too and pulled her even closer.
Burying her face in his chest, she murmured in a voice so soft it sounded like she was talking to herself, "I will never leave you."
The main lights in the living room were off, leaving the balcony bathed in dim, atmospheric shadows.
"Even if everyone else leaves you, I will never walk away," she promised him.
"Besides, I have a feeling Su Qing won't leave you either."
Zhou Yuwen asked why she thought so.
To his surprise, Tao Tian offered a rather profound observation, "That lass loves you so much; there is no way she would just pack up and go. She probably just wants a change of scenery to figure everything out and sort through her thoughts."
Seeing her confident expression, He could not resist gently pinching her nose.
"Ah!" He had used a bit too much force, causing her to frown playfully. She puffed out her cheeks and complained that it hurt.
Laughing, he teased, "You are just a lass yourself. You aren't even that much older than her, yet you are calling her 'that lass'?"
"Hehe." She stuck out her tongue mischievously.
The French windows of his luxury apartment directly faced the university campus. The night view outside was breathtaking, illuminating the balcony much better than the dark interior of the room.
Because of this, if anyone looked at them from a distance while they were on the balcony, they would only be able to make out their silhouettes.
At first, they just seemed to be chatting casually. However, as Zhou Yuwen stared at Tao Tian's angelic face, the smile on his lips gradually faded.
He gazed deeply into her eyes, a heavy possessiveness slowly brimming within his own.
Reading the burning intent in his gaze, Tao Tian's smile faded as well.
Their eyes met in an intense, silent exchange.
He lowered his head and captured her lips in a deep kiss.
Their bodies intertwined, pressing tightly against one another.
His hand wrapped firmly around her slender waist.
"Mmph."
The kiss started out gentle, but he soon pushed her back against the wall. The soft kisses on her lips quickly transitioned into fiery trailing kisses down her neck.
Tao Tian's face flushed crimson in no time, but she yielded completely, allowing him to do as he pleased.
Her clothing was not particularly tight. In fact, because the fabric was hiked up, the hem of her shirt hung rather loosely. Without any effort at all, Zhou Yuwen...
