Chapter 885 The Mother Planet Plan

Chapter 885 The Mother Planet Plan

Meanwhile, Yun's mind grew increasingly filled with doubt. He found Mendisius's ability to devour creatures utterly perplexing. Could someone be swallowed by Mendisius and still survive inside its body? This was truly inconceivable. Yun couldn't help but wonder what kind of environment existed inside Mendisius's enormous belly, enabling humans or other creatures to survive?

However, no matter how hard he racked his brains, he felt that something was amiss. After all, Mendisius had devoured so much; logically, it should have compressed these devoured objects. Moreover, Mendisius devoured things by absorbing energy; regardless of the object, once its energy was completely absorbed, it should no longer be able to survive.

However, Yun's own situation was completely contrary to this. He could not only use basic energy normally, but he could even use chaotic energy, which was obviously inconsistent with Mendisius's rules of devouring. The more Yun thought about it, the more confused he became; he simply couldn't understand the reason.

"This place is really big. I don't even know where I am. I just inexplicably ended up here," Yun said helplessly.

Mendisius seemed helpless about its situation, and surprisingly sighed, "Alas, I can't help it. I don't even know what I've swallowed."

Hearing Mendisius's sigh, Yun casually asked, "Oh? Aren't you the Devourer of Worlds?"

Mendisius was clearly unfamiliar with the title, and asked in bewilderment, "Devourer of Worlds? Is that my name?"

"Um...that's what they say outside." Yun was also a little at a loss.

“Name…it doesn’t matter.” Mendisius’s voice lowered, carrying a deep weariness. “They…those Titans who call themselves the Pantheon, those ancient gods who whisper in the shadows, and that holy light that tolerates no impurity…that’s what they called me too, with voices full of hatred and fear.”

Its consciousness seemed to drift to the distant past, its voice filled with confusion, and also carrying a hint of barely perceptible... grievance.

"What I remember most clearly is that giant engulfed in golden flames. He wielded a massive sword, the flames of which burned me painfully. My instinct was to stay away from him, but he relentlessly pursued me. He didn't care what lay in his path. Once, the mere aftershock of his sword sliced a verdant world, where primordial life had just been born, in two. The life there hadn't even learned to think before it turned to ashes in his righteous flames. He didn't even glance at it."

"And then there were the Titans, who tried to imprison me with their powerful Order energy. That giant who could manipulate time (Aman'Thul) solidified the space around me with his power. To trap me, he directly drained the energy from three nearby star systems, which instantly dimmed, and all life that depended on light perished silently in the cold darkness. To them, it was as if they were just a few pieces removed from a chessboard."

“Those ancient gods disgust me even more.” Mendisius’s voice was filled with revulsion. “They don’t attack directly, but release twisted whispers, trying to corrupt my essence. I accidentally devoured those whispers, which resulted in a bizarre mutation in a region of my body. Some remnants of the world that were originally stored there grew flesh and eyes, frantically devouring themselves… They don’t care what they turn me into, they just want to drag me into their madness.”

“And that holy light…” Mendisius’s voice carried a hint of fear for the first time, “It was the most ruthless. The leading Naaru gathered the power of the entire Holy Light Legion and launched a purification. That light was too bright, too pure, so pure that it rejected all dissent. To ensure it hit me, it calculated the optimal path, and along that path happened to be a prosperous star system with several intelligent civilizations. Without the slightest hesitation, the holy light surged like a tide, instantly 'purifying' that star system and its billions of inhabitants into the most basic light energy particles… I still remember that at the last moment, the consciousness of those civilizations did not send curses at me, but rather a sense of bewilderment and despair towards that supreme light they once believed in.”

A long silence spread slowly in the darkness like ink, seemingly without end. Mendisius's voice stood out starkly against the stillness, filled with immense confusion and bewilderment.

“Look,” he said, his words revealing a deep sense of helplessness, “they all say I’m a destroyer, a demon. But I really don’t understand. I’m just following my instincts, searching for food in this vast universe, as natural as a star whale devouring tiny plankton.”

His voice lowered slightly, as if recalling the worlds and lives he had devoured. "However, those who call themselves guardians of the universe destroyed far more worlds and extinguished far more lives with their own hands in order to eliminate me, and at a much faster pace, than I had unintentionally devoured."

Mendisius's voice gradually revealed a hint of anger. "They shout slogans of justice, but in reality, what they do is far more thorough and ruthless than what they call 'evil.' Those planets, those lives, are treated in their hands like toys that can be discarded at will."

His voice echoed in the darkness, filled with unspeakable sorrow, “I don’t understand… I really don’t understand… why no one is willing to stop and ask me who I am, why I am like this. They are just eager to kill me, and even think that it is worth sacrificing everything for me.”

Yun's consciousness seemed to be suppressed by an invisible force, his silence frightening. The scenes Mendisius described played out in his mind like a series of horror movies, each filled with ruthless destruction carried out in the name of "justice." These scenes deeply shocked Yun; he had never imagined that his long-held beliefs in "justice" and "evil" would appear so pale and blurred in the face of the cruel reality on this cosmic scale.

Mendisius's confused and aggrieved whispers, like the tide, slowly receded from Yun's consciousness. However, this tide did not take everything away; it left a vast sense of bewilderment in Yun's heart. Yun began to re-examine those concepts he had once regarded as absolute, such as Titans, Ancient Gods, and the Holy Light. He discovered that these beings, in order to achieve their goals, could annihilate stars without hesitation and treat billions of species as worthless weeds. This ruthless attitude formed a stark and ironic contrast with the being before him, who was devouring things merely because of "hunger" and did not even understand why he was being antagonized.

Yun's initial hostility towards this being suddenly turned into a sense of bewilderment. He didn't know how to face this reality, nor whether his previous judgment was correct. Was this being truly "evil"? Or was it that absolute "justice" and "evil" simply did not exist in this universe? Yun's thoughts became chaotic; he felt as if he were lost in an endless maze, unable to find a way out.

However, before he could fully savor this complex emotion, subtle changes suddenly occurred in the surrounding darkness. These changes were initially so minute that he barely noticed them. Yet, as time passed, they gradually became apparent, like ripples spreading slowly across a calm lake after a pebble has been thrown in.

At first, he only felt something trembling slightly in the darkness, but because of his connection with Mendisius's consciousness, his attention was completely occupied by Mendisius's consciousness, and he temporarily ignored these subtle changes. However, as time passed, these tremors became stronger and more obvious, and he could no longer ignore their presence.

Now, those "things" he had ignored began to slowly emerge, becoming clearer and clearer. They were faint streams of energy, like fireflies awakening, quietly lighting up in the void. These streams of light were of different colors, some pale blue, some pale yellow, and some pale purple, among others. Each color exuded a completely different aura; some gave a sense of tranquility, while others instilled a sense of unease.

One type of light emits a mind-wrenching whisper of pain, as if countless suffering souls are wailing in the darkness; another type exudes a deep-seated fear that freezes the soul, sending chills down one's spine; yet another type of light twists everything, radiating a deep-seated hatred, as if to tear apart all beauty; yet another type of light is a violent destruction that burns everything in its path, leaving nothing but ashes; and finally, the last type of light is a utter destruction that leads all things to their end, representing endless annihilation and despair.

These streams of light were the energy of the five gems! Although Baal had been defeated, the energy of these gems had not completely dissipated. On the contrary, like wild beasts freed from their restraints, they drifted and permeated aimlessly in this chaotic space belonging to Mendisius.

“These…little things…” Mendisius’s voice carried a hint of discomfort, “They make me…very uncomfortable. They’re too ‘hard,’ like sand, and they’re irritating.”

Yun gazed at the flowing strands of energy, and a vague idea began to take shape in his mind. Andariel's pain, Duriel's fear, Mephisto's hatred, Diablo's destruction, Baal's ravages... what if we looked at these seemingly extremely negative forces from a different perspective?

Is pain a primal warning sign of the need to perceive existence and avoid harm?

Is fear the instinct for caution and survival that drives us when facing the unknown?

Does hatred stem from a strong reaction to the violation of oneself or loved ones?

Is destruction and devastation the end of a cycle, while simultaneously clearing the way for a new beginning?

These forces seem to form the cornerstone of a cruel yet real world's operating principles. They are not simply evil, but rather a manifestation of some kind of... underlying rule.

Just as Yun's thoughts were racing, a sudden change occurred!

The five streams of energy, flowing aimlessly, seemed to be drawn by some invisible force, slowly converging towards a central point in this dark space. They intertwined and collided, but did not merge; instead, they seemed to be constructing something together.

Gradually, an extremely faint yet indescribably ancient and profound phantom began to flicker and take shape at the convergence of energies. The outline of that phantom... resembled a vast and boundless land, exuding a desolate rhythm completely different from any other world in the current universe.

"This...this is..." Mendisius's voice carried for the first time a clear, instinctive fear, "No...don't come any closer...this thing...it's 'covering' me!"

cover?

This word was like a bolt of lightning, instantly cleaving through all the fog in Yun's mind!

The ruins of the mother planet… the resurrection of the mother planet… Rishwim's obsession… five gems representing the fundamental rules of the world… converging within Mendisius, a "furnace" filled with primordial chaotic energy… and now, this ancient phantom, emanating the aura of the mother planet, is attempting to take shape…

Yun's mind was completely blank. She was still quite shocked by the situation and had no idea what had happened. However, this situation was definitely not a good thing, especially since it was inside Mendisius's body. Clearly, these five gems had an important role to play.

"What have you done?" came the voice of the Firstborn.

"I don't know, I don't know, he... he just became like this, this is..." Yun said, somewhat confused, completely unaware that the voice of the newborn was already filled with unease.

"You... sigh, I feel like you're more like the chosen one. I should have killed you long ago, but... sigh, I didn't expect it to come to this in the end." The Firstborn was clearly very helpless.

"What exactly happened? Tell me! Stop with the talk of killing and threatening!" Yun Lai was furious. What had he done? He had no control over his own actions. When he was most confused, the Firstborn didn't show up, and now that something had happened, it was blaming him. How could this be?

"Sigh... Mother planet... Mother planet's final plan still succeeded." The Firstborn said helplessly.

"Tell me! I don't know anything right now. Tell me! What's the plan? What's going on? What did I do? What else could I have done? My head is spinning. I'm already confused. If you keep saying this, even if you kill me, at least let me die knowing the truth!" Yun became even more anxious.

"The final plan for our home planet is to return, but I... sigh." The Firstborn was clearly helpless.
