Chapter 255 Dangerous Search (Part 1)
They traveled south without stopping and finally arrived at this mysterious and terrifying swamp. A thick fog enveloped them, making it almost impossible to see the way ahead. Not only was the place rife with miasma, but the air was also filled with a pungent, nauseating odor.
Every now and then, strange bubbles would rise from the swamp, making a bubbling sound, as if concealing some unknown danger. Yingyue carefully took out a miasma-avoiding pill she had meticulously prepared from her bosom, handed one to the boy beside her, and quickly swallowed one herself. Then, the two exchanged a glance, took a deep breath, and resolutely stepped into the perilous swamp.
However, they hadn't gone far when they felt something slowly wriggling beneath their feet. The strange sensation sent chills down their spines. Just then, a rustling sound came, and countless thick vines, like ferocious venomous snakes, burst from the ground and frantically coiled around them with lightning speed!
Faced with this sudden attack, Yingyue remained calm and collected. She swiftly drew her longsword from her waist, and with a flick of her wrist, the vines were severed in a flash of light. Dark green sap gushed from the cuts, splashing onto the ground and making a sizzling, corrosive sound.
Meanwhile, the boy was equally determined, wielding a sharp dagger and hacking and slashing to carve a path forward. Despite the vines constantly surging up, the two, working in perfect harmony, managed to advance step by step with difficulty.
After a harrowing struggle, they finally made it safely across the edge of the swamp. But just then, a dilapidated ancient castle suddenly appeared before them. The castle looked like it had been abandoned for a long time; the walls were peeling and crumbling, the roof was teetering on the verge of collapse, and it exuded an eerie and terrifying atmosphere.
What's even more chilling is that the castle is surrounded by flocks of black crows. These crows stand silently on the branches, their blood-red eyes fixed on them, occasionally letting out mournful cries, as if warning them not to come closer.
Despite their fear, they did not back down. Gripping their weapons tightly, they walked step by step toward the castle. When they were just a few steps away from the gate, the tightly closed ancient door, as if controlled by some mysterious force, slowly and automatically opened. As the door opened, a putrid stench rushed out, and at the same time, low, muffled roars echoed from within, like howls from the depths of hell.
They exchanged a glance, both seeing the tension and unease in each other's eyes. But now that things had come to this, they had no other choice. They could only grit their teeth, steel themselves, and cautiously make their way towards the ancient castle, shrouded in an aura of endless unknowns and danger, as if stepping into a dragon's den...
As soon as they stepped into the hall, they were utterly stunned by the astonishing sight before them. The entire hall, from the walls and floor to the ceiling, was densely covered with all sorts of strange and unusual runes. These runes seemed to possess a life of their own, shimmering with a faint yet captivating light, as if telling some unknown secret, creating an indescribable sense of mystery and unpredictability.
In various corners of the hall, several eerie flames, their color a ghostly blue, flickering and shifting unpredictably, burned. These flames swayed gracefully, like ghosts dancing, making the already gloomy and terrifying environment even more oppressive and chilling.
Just then, a dark shadow suddenly darted out from a shadowy corner like lightning. Upon closer inspection, it was a bizarrely shaped monster, half-human and half-demon! This monster was incredibly agile, moving with unimaginable speed, and in the blink of an eye, it lunged at Yingyue with bared fangs and claws. Faced with this sudden attack, Yingyue reacted swiftly, nimbly dodging the monster's fierce attack. At the same time, her sword flashed out, thrusting straight at the monster. Seeing this, the boy standing nearby didn't hesitate to attack from the side, coordinating with Yingyue to form a pincer movement.
In an instant, swords flashed and figures flew, an incredibly fierce battle unfolded. The two sides exchanged blows, neither giving an inch, each move imbued with immense power and killing intent. After a grueling and arduous struggle, Shadowmoon and the boy, relying on their flawless teamwork and unwavering fighting spirit, finally defeated the ferocious monster.
Despite their initial victory, they were acutely aware that more unpredictable dangers awaited them ahead. Yet, even so, they showed no fear; instead, their eyes shone with unwavering determination. After a brief rest, they resolutely set off again, bravely continuing their exploration deeper into the mysterious ancient castle…
